BAD DRUGS POLICY

Stephen Harper isn't the only leader on the wrong side of rational
drug policy. The White House rejected the Global Commission on Drug
Policy report and defended the "balanced efforts" of the U.S. These
"balanced" efforts have given the "land of the free" the highest
incarceration rate in the world. Prohibition-related violence has
caused upwards of 35,000 deaths in Mexico over the past four years.
Despite criminal penalties, the U.S. has higher rates of drug use than
European Union countries like Portugal that have decriminalized. When
it comes to throwing good money after bad policy, Stephen Harper is
unfortunately in good company.

ROBERT SHARPE

(Yep. It's a no-brainer at this point.)
