It's a parents job to make sure his/her kids learn the language. As long as there will be Francos, there will be a french language.

As far as immigration goes, as long as they know either of our official languages it's all good. It's their problem if they have trouble getting by in cities of this province other than Montreal though... It's pretty much the only place in Quebec where someone with zero knowledge of the french language can get by this easily.

I honestly dont care, but I would also vote yes. On a cultural and core values level I find that we do differ, the language is also key.

Economically, over about 5 years it might be rough, but I do think it would work out. New country means new laws and we might be able to bring in new companies in.

But if it never happens, I wont feel miserable. I'm happy as it is.

The NDP will do a whole lot of things for Canada as a whole if they were to get the opposition. The provincial government can take care of Québec specifically. Now I know a whole lot of it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but did you watch the debate? Every single leader included Québec and I don't think it's necessarily to shut Duceppe up.

Every major party has candidates in this province, I don't see how they would completely disregard Québec's interests should they be elected.



Pretty much... We can agree to disagree, I think the Bloc shouldn't exist. As I stated before I think Duceppe would make an excellent leader for the province should he choose to. He might even have a chance to call a 3rd referendum. But as it stands we live in a country called Canada, not Québec and people need to fucking deal with it.

basdini: I'm against the bloc for many reasons, the main being that they are taking left winged votes away from left winged parties who's main goals are not to GTFO of Canada.

IMO Duceppe would make a great leader for the PQ or any other Provincial party. The fact that he represents one province and still gets invited to the debate is beyond me, might as well invite the Rhinoceros party while they're at it.

What sucks to me is that I know the Bloc will probably get lots of seats thanks to the regional vote from people who feel that the one quebecker represents them best....

Everyone has the same power at this point, the power to vote. It's called democracy... If your "system" were implemented the rich would have more power to control the government and get laws approved in their favor.

Onto the debate... I watched a good part of it yesterday and Layton was much more aggressive than I had expected and I liked it. Harper was backed in a corner trying always reverting to the lower taxes argument when he has an 11 billion dollar magic hole he cant fill. Duceppe looked like an angry dunce that shouldn't debate in english... You can't be a political leader in Canada and have such a poor mastery of either language. Ignatief came in second IMO, he played it safe (for the part I watched at least).

I hope the NDP wins it, but I dont think it will happen, now if only they can at least score the opposition I'd be VERY satisfied. Only problem is I see either the liberals or conservatives winning with the other as opposition.

And honestly, if I were from another province I'd be thinking: fuck Québec, why should they get a party representing just their one province. Especially with a leader kicking and screaming that the provinces need more power in terms of health care and other major issues... It isn't the frum to start that sort of debate, but I don't think they'll ever get it anyway.

Touché! I've only attended a few events organized by friends (which I don't think I've linked to my profile) other than Breaks/DnB/Jungle/Dubstep club nights. I do spend the entire time on the dancefloor, because there's no other place I'd rather be.

I honestly don't have the patience to deal with under aged kids tripping out on all sorts of drugs and the whole "look at me, I've got the freakiest rave suit and props ever!" kind of thing. I guess I'm just getting old...

Only thing that really gets me going in events is the music and it's direct effect on my body and mind. When I'm on a dancefloor and the music is pumping I truly feel free, nothing else really brings me that feeling. It's as if my body syncs with the music, I don't know how else to explain it.
