I think anything that gets complacent people stuck in their parents' religion to actually THINK about things is good... even if it comes with biases, inaccuracies, and shock value.

Go to any Pharmaprix or Shopper's Drug Mart around Montreal... you will find DXM cough medicines without any other active ingredients than "dextromethorphan hydrobromide". It's really not that hard to find. There's absolutely no reason to drink recreational doses of DXM syrup if there are other active ingredients.

That's not true. Tobacco is very carcinogenic - obviously whatever is used to treat brand-name cigarettes makes them even less healthy, but natural tobacco is still a very unhealthy drug to use on a regular basis.



I often encourage my friends to try drugs that I believe they will like. Most of the time, they have a great time. I don't see how this is "retarded."

Ehh... in my opinion, energy drinks are a lame drink with weak drugs in them. I'd rather have, say, a glass of milk and a low-dose of some recreational stimulant - best of both worlds. :)

A quarter-gram of 20X sends me into another dimension completely... I've always found it curious that salvia has such a strong effect on me, while I have high tolerance to the classical psychedelics (phenethylamines and tryptamines).

Right now I'm in my first year of undergrad at McGill, and my budget (or lack thereof) is definitely the largest source of stress in my life. I'm basically living off of government loans, the money I saved up working this past summer, and the money I begrudgingly lend from my parents. I've always been a fiscally responsible person, so saving money wasn't an issue when I was younger. Strategies I'm currently using to save money include:

- Because I have a meal plan with McGill (mandatory and exorbitantly priced), I try to never buy other food.
- If I want to buy something that's pretty valuable, I look it up online, find the cheapest model that I feel will fit my needs, and try to find it for cheap on eBay. I don't tend to buy anything expensive at physical stores.
- I use Wal-Mart for basic necessities. Yeah, you can look down on it if you want, but as a dirt-poor student, it's my best option.
- I avoid drinking alcohol. That's a huge cash-saver in and of itself.
- My cell phone use is as basic as it gets.

I had a great time. Props to everyone involved.

The "LSD soaking through skin" story is one of the oldest around. Apparently it's possible - that's how Dr. Albert Hoffmann says he was first exposed to the chemical - but due to the minute quantities of LSD found in blotters, I think that it would be extremely unlikely that an active dose would be transferred through someone's skin accidentally... and there's no way that you're unintentionally going to get your cat high by petting it after handing acid.

Last week I was in Toronto to celebrate the New Year with some of my Montreal friends. We were planning to go to a rave, and a guy Friend #1 knew had some blotters to sell. The blotter sheet had a picture of Super Mario on it. We bought 10, and - being young and impatient - we decided to take the acid on the day before the rave, at my friend's house. With his parents upstairs, we all took a hit and went to chill on some comfortable furniture and watch a movie. After an hour, I had no effects (other than a chemical taste on my tongue - a sign that the blotters weren't quite right), so I took another. After 2 hours, I still wasn't feeling much, so I took 1 more hits, bringing my dose to a total of 4 hits. By this time, Friend #1 had taken 2.5 hits, and Friend #2 had taken 3.5. At 3 to 4 hours after the initial dose, we were all tripping intensely. The visual and auditory hallucinations were beyond anything I had experienced with LSD or psilocybin mushrooms, as was the mental confusion. Being a well-practiced psychonaut with a high tolerance to most substances, I handled it just fine. Friend #1, however, had a violent reaction to the substance. He began vomiting, and then went into psychosis, shrieking and thrashing. I've never seen someone in such a state of absolute panic and terror in my life - it looked like some kind of exorcism. To make the situation worse, his parents came down, freaking him out even more. I asked them for antipsychotics or benzodiazepines, but of course, your average rich white religious old person doesn't have that kind of shit lying around - so his parents ended up calling an ambulance. This was somewhat stressful, since I had to talk with a bunch of cops while tripping balls. Thank God I was in a conscious state, or my other friend (who had just been lying down and mumbling nonsense this whole time) and me could have gotten in some real trouble.

After my friend was shipped off to the ambulance, me and Friend #2 were kicked out of Friend #1's house, and had to wander around aimlessly in Toronto. I must say, it was absolutely gorgeous. The air was shimmering with some kind of translucent colourful fog, and all the grass and trees were covered with shiny artifacts that resembled peacock feathers. Other people looked like some species of mutant troll thing, and everything was warped and shimmering and full of little dots of green and red and purple and all sorts of other bright colours. It looked like some kind of alien dream world - this description really doesn't do it justice. It was the most beautiful visual experience of my life. 7 grams of mushrooms wasn't even at this level.

I full-out tripped for a total of about 20 hours. With the come-up and comedown, I would say the total duration of the drug was somewhere around 28 hours. This tipped me off that we were probably tripping on a DOx compound. When I talked to Friend #1 after he had gotten out of the hospital, this hypothesis was confirmed. I am pretty sure that we were on a high dose of DOB, with a low dose of LSD mixed in (both a DOx compound and LSD came up on Friend #1's blood test).

So, if you get your hands on Mario blotter acid anytime soon, be careful! Unlike LSD, DOx compounds can cause overdoses quite easily. They also take a long time to kick in - so it's probably a good idea not to take a whole bunch (like I did) just because you don't feel anything in the first hour.

That said... DOB is now one of my new favourite drugs. :)

Hmm... I've done a lot of ketamine, and have never had a bad experience from it. It's among my very favourite psychoactive chemicals, and it's really not that dangerous (relative to other common recreational drugs). That said, it's physical and mental effects are very powerful, so it's a substance that should be treated with care (unless, of course, you want to have an out-of-body experience while passed out on a dance floor). ;)

That's only if you get syrup with guafenesin, ephedrine, or some other active ingredient in it. The syrup I suggested is gross because of all the fake sugary crap in it, but it shouldn't cause nausea or vomiting.

Benylin Tickly Throat & Cough has DXM as the only active ingredient. You can find it at a local Pharmaprix. A bottle contains 750 mg of DXM hydrobromide.

Disclaimer: there isn't anything really harmful in the syrup, but it does taste awful.

In Canada, at least, there's no way you can go to jail due solely to a mental disorder. Even if a psychiatrist had diagnosed you with, say, pedophilia or psychopathy, they certainly couldn't have you charged with anything just because of how your mind works. And that's definitely a good thing.

That's weird... 2C-B, 2C-E, and 2C-I are all long-acting hallucinogen - if that's what was in the pill, you would have been tripping for hours. It seems that whatever pill you took had a short-acting hallucinogen in it.

I really don't know of any common short-acting psychedelics that would be pressed into pills and sold as ecstasy... hmm... have you tried ketamine before? It's not much of a hallucinogen but it's the only thing off the top of my head that would likely be mixed with MDMA in those pills.

On another note, apparently that pressed pill has already been around in Quebec, and a Marquis test identified the active ingredient to be primarily MDMA (or a similar compound, such as MDA). So, if there is a different drug in the pills you took, that probably means somebody's copying the Maserati press to make their pills appear legitimate when they're not, or else the pills have a lower dose of some other active compound, but not enough to change the Marquis test's results.

I dunno about the sand... I found it was a bit awkward to dance in. It was still a blast, though, and the music was great.
