and also Cinderella Soul, it depends on the extent of your addiction: what you're addicted to, for how long, your means of injesting said drug, etc. There are too many factors in this world that defy humanity's ability to overcome drug use. There will always be unhappy people, there will always be bad decisions, and there will always be drugs.

it may be your body... but its not jsut your own life it affects. it affects everyone around you when you use drugs: your family, your friends, your work, etc. it is perhaps one of the most selfishly destructive choices you can make.

in my case i used drugs purely as an escapist means of self-medication. i dont think i'd ever have become a meth-addict had i not felt the need to self-medicate myself. and no it is not possible to cure drug addiction in humanity. drugs will forever be an ever present force whether they be grown from the earth or synthesized in a lab. and so long as they are there, so long as humanity is laced with tragedy and sorrow, then people will always resort to drugs as the alternative... as an escape. most human beings are incapable of dealign with life's tumultuous road alone therefore they resort to external menas such as religion, but in many cases the salvation religion offers many people isn't enough for some so people like me will reach to the beckoning hand of drugs.
