I had the same problem last night with my PC.

Here is what ive done to get it fixed

Installed the Win XP RPC exploit patch :

I also ran Windows Update to dwl & install some other security releases ....

I also went in Admin tool services -=> Setup the RPC service to auto-restart if it crashes. Just right click on the service and select properties and then go in the "Recovery" tab.

My system didnt reboot due to RPC crashing afterwards ...

the only anwser i can give to that is the # of reality show out there is related to the # of viewers ..... It is not rocket science

all these shows have been designed for people that have really boring life and need to see other peeps life tribulation to get there day more interesting......

Just dont take any and you'll be all prevented .....
