 Coolness: 61925 | Does anyone else's computer keep shutting down? I have to type this fast cuz my computer keeps sending me this message saying Remote Proceedure Call terminated unexpectadly, and then all of a sudden my computer turns off and restarts. Its happening to someone else I know. What is this, why's it happening, and wtf can i do about it?? Its SOOO annoying!! Arg |

up untill 3 days ago, i hadn't restarded in 3.5 months with absolutely no problems.. i only restarted cause i accidentally pushed the retarded sleep button on my keyboard, then it wouldn't wake up. anyone have a keygen for XP that i could use? i prolly should patch my OS.. |

microsoft handled this VERY poorly. The patch to fix the RPC buffer overflows ISN'T ON [ www.windowsupdate.com. ] Didn't apply the patch yet? Don't waste your time scanning for available patches and fixes. [ www.microsoft.com ] Go there, chose which OS you have and install this patch quickly, otherwise your box will turn into a slave DDoS machine. |

i think thats the main reason i've never been hit with one of these backdoor viruses... |

Install a firewall and denie it access to the internet. the filename is called rpcss.exe |

Here is what ive done to get it fixed Installed the Win XP RPC exploit patch : [ www.microsoft.com ] I also ran Windows Update to dwl & install some other security releases .... I also went in Admin tool services -=> Setup the RPC service to auto-restart if it crashes. Just right click on the service and select properties and then go in the "Recovery" tab. My system didnt reboot due to RPC crashing afterwards ... |
