Kelowna-based DJs Stickybuds and Jpod (the beat chef) have formed a connection where they slice & dice genres while blowing minds and speakers alike. Jason & Tyler are crafty and suave and are addicted to dirty beats, bomb acapellas and genre-mashing combos. They have both performed individually at The Shambhala Music Festival in 2005 and in '06 a decision to link their time slots together offered a memorable 4-hour funk throw-down that solidified The StickyPod Connection as a project to pursue & perfect. Now they're on a roll with out-of-control shows all over the West. They're not afraid to push the boundaries of conventional dance music and go way beyond the technical simplicity of mixing tunes. They use their gear like musical instruments to de-construct Reggae, Hip Hop, Funk, Breaks, and DnB as they re-construct live edits & mashes using the dopest acapellas and the phattiest shoe-skool grooves. Ty & Jay are cool cats with an infectious party style who assault dance floors. They love what they do and so do their fans, so get your feet in check and be prepared to get infected by their insane energy.

DEE BASS
Global Mastermindz (GMU)
[ www.globalmastermindz.com ] | [ www.deebass.ca ] | [ www.ibreaks.co.uk ]
Having spent time honing his djing and production skills in Montreal QC, Dee Bass coproduces tracks with members of his main ongoing project Global Mastermindz (a.k.a. GMU). Pushing the Canadian Break Beat, Dee Bass brings a unique flavour to breaks with his bass driven distinctive style. For the last 2 1/2 years Dee Bass has been host of the famed Royal Canadian Mounted Breaks show on ibreaks.co.uk and has gained a growing international following, making a name for himself. Dee Bass continues to bring things to the next level with his lively DJ sets and as well continues to a produce high standard music under the name Dee Bass, Momenta, Serious Flexx and more. Reppin' for the healthy Canadian breaks scene ...... the arrival of Dee Bass is upon us.

HEIDROGEN
Stereoshift, per.ception
[ www.stereoshift.org ] | [ www.per.ception.ca ]
Breaching the stability of BC's loudspeakers, Heidrogen is sure to yoke your mind. By intelligent set design, melodies get crafted and spliced into a well-sequenced designed disorder. With common ingredients of glitch, psy, bass, and crafty drum patterns, it is not uncommon to have to squeegy random kin off the ceiling. Movement becomes necessity.

LYSSA
FlyDjs | Anthrowolf Productions
Her first appearance as DJ "Lyssa" took place in December 2005. Since then, she has appeared at the Interior's biggest & most popular events in Kamloops, Kelowna, Vernon and various outdoor spots. She made Victoria her home in spring 2007 & has been blessing people with her own style of chicago tech house.

MISHADOW
Anthrowolf Productions
Mark lures the crowd with his bass heavy electro and packs the dance floors until early hours of the morning. His music feeds the fire leaving the dancers craving for more. Born and raised in the heart of the kootanys, this is where it all began. His ears lit when he first heard electronic music at the age of 14 while dancing under the stars at Shambhala.

if you are not aware, the future of the internet is in danger.

as we speak, laws are being made (or not being made) that will destroy the internet as we know it. in a nutshell, big corporations are leaning on ISPs and lawmakers to give their traffic PRIORITY over all other traffic.

this means that for example, all your packets deemed important will get through quickly. your packets NOT deemed important, will take longer, or may not arrive at all.

if the big corporations get there way, only those big players that can afford to pay outrageous fees, will be able to have their traffic delivered reliably. this will destroy the internet completely in my view. CNN and Fox will work just fine. [ indymedia.com ] [ liquidbeat.com ] [ stereoshift.org ] these sites are not important. we will be shoved to the back of the list. the internet will become closer to radio and television distribution models, where only the rich can afford to speak. this is FUCKING BULLSHIT. this is against everything the internet stands for.

this is not a scam. this is not a conspiracy theory. it's already happening, and we all need to do our part to stop it. does anyone have any opinions?

here is more background info: [ en.wikipedia.org ]

A Guide to Net Neutrality for Google Users
"Net neutrality" is an issue that will shape the future of the Internet. Google has created this guide to net neutrality, which includes a brief overview of the subject, an update on where things stand in the U.S. policy debate, a set of actions you can take to protect the Internet, and the text of an open letter from our CEO, Eric Schmidt.

What is Net Neutrality?
Network neutrality is the principle that Internet users should be in control of what content they view and what applications they use on the Internet. The Internet has operated according to this neutrality principle since its earliest days. Indeed, it is this neutrality that has allowed many companies, including Google, to launch, grow, and innovate. Fundamentally, net neutrality is about equal access to the Internet. In our view, the broadband carriers should not be permitted to use their market power to discriminate against competing applications or content. Just as telephone companies are not permitted to tell consumers who they can call or what they can say, broadband carriers should not be allowed to use their market power to control activity online. Today, the neutrality of the Internet is at stake as the broadband carriers want Congress's permission to determine what content gets to you first and fastest. Put simply, this would fundamentally alter the openness of the Internet.

What is the Current Status of Net Neutrality?
Net neutrality is a major issue as the U.S. considers new telecommunications laws. The U.S. House of Representatives passed its telecommunications bill, H.R. 5252, in May, without adequate net neutrality protections. Now the fight has moved to U.S. Senate. On June 28, the Senate Commerce Committee passed its own telecom bill, S. 2686. While an amendment to the bill that would have added meaningful net neutrality safeguards failed 11-11, this tie vote marks a significant political victory and gives the effort new momentum. The debate now shifts to the full Senate, where advocates will be working to get strong net neutrality language is any bill that the Senate considers.

_________________________________________________
Allowing broadband carriers to control what people see and do online would fundamentally undermine the principles that have made the Internet such a success...A number of justifications have been created to support carrier control over consumer choices online; none stand up to scrutiny."
- Vint Cerf
Google Chief Internet Evangelist and Co-Developer of the Internet Protocol

The neutral communications medium is essential to our society. It is the basis of a fair competitive market economy. It is the basis of democracy, by which a community should decide what to do. It is the basis of science, by which humankind should decide what is true. Let us protect the neutrality of the net."

Inventor of the World Wide Web
