| Info: | This Week T-N-T Productions Presents KF AKA KEVAN DUKE (Toronto) This Shall Be An Evening Filled With Bomb Ass Beats! KF's roots in techno extend back to 1992, when he discovered a little radio show on CKCU called “Planet Raveâ€... he knew immediately this was the music he'd been waiting his whole life to hear. In '93, moving to London to attend Western University, he encountered an unruly gaggle of like-minded individuals; they formed Morpheus Productions, and in January 1994 threw their first party together, “Angel's Trumpet & Devil's Trombone†(which featured as headliner a budding young DJ by the name of “Richie Rich†Hawtin). From '94 to '97, Morpheus threw the craziest parties London had ever seen, bringing acts from all over the world to visit tech-destruction upon London's tight-knit scene. 1997 saw the movement of the Morpheus crew to Toronto, and for KF the beginnings of a love affair with performing. That year, as part of a conjunctive effort between Morpheus and a faction of Toronto's Trancendance called “Black Lodge/White Lodge†KF and two friends played live electronic beats alongside The Toronto Tabla Ensemble. Watching the crowd's reactions during that show, KF was hooked on a new drug: showmanship... he began spending endless hours practicing and thinking about music... but it wasn't till the following year that things began to really take shape... THE DUKES What began innocently enough in 1998 as a friendly session of back-to-back DJing between two young music addicts, quickly synergized into a strong musical connection, and inspiring partnership...and ‘The Dukes’ became a regular affair. Always intense in the mix, often with all four hands tweaking the mixer, DJs @m. & KF ride a swerving line of quirk that detours through techno, electro, house and breaks, and back again, with a stage presence and style unlike any other DJ act out there. Motivated by their desire to “bring back the experience of music as a journey through continually shifting experiences, rather than a constant pushing of one monotonous styleâ€, The Dukes have risen quickly to the forefront of Toronto’s latest crop of DJs & musicians. They are notorious for their energetic stage personas and wild musical tastes -- captivating crowds in every kind of environment … contrasting deep, funky grooves against feverishly intense moments of pure insanity. The Dukes are also actively involved in supporting the music scene they love -- @m. is the force behind AcmeLabz Productions, an events company that has thrown both solid club events as well as underground renegade sound system parties over the last 4 years. He has also freelanced as a writer for various music magazines distributed across North America as a columnist, music reviewer and occasional interviewer of international DJs and producers.
