20,000 Watts Under The Sea

Kevin Saunderson - Detroit
KMS Productions
[Link]

Kevin Saunderson is a legend in his own right, known and respected around the world, as one of the three Artist/Producer/DJs from Detroit, who originated Techno music, which helped to reshape the future of Dance music as we know it. He started as a DJ and developed new skills that led him into producing records, which he released on his own label, KMS Records. The demand for his Artist/DJ/Producer derived records was overwhelming overseas, as well as in the States, cities like Chicago and New York were open to Kevin's new brand of music. He introduced acts like 'Kreem', 'Reese', 'Inter-City' (later to become Inner City) and 'Reese & Santonio'. Kevin has many other aliases too such as; 'Tronik House', 'The Reese Project', 'EsRay', 'Kaos' and latterly, 'E-Dancer', which he uses to show his versatility in being able to create different facets of Dance music. Kevin also pioneered the art of the "remix," changing the face of how remixers revamp songs. His very first remix for The Wee Papa Girl Rappers "Heat It Up" went on to pick up 'DMC Remix of the Year' in 1989. More recently Kevin Saunderson has had a hand in helping promote the world's largest electronic music event, the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. Headlining at every major club and festival around the world, Kevin puts on a class act wherever he goes, Winnipeg is in for a real treat when this original techno icon steps up to to decks at 20,00 Watts Under The Sea! Kevin's alter ego E-DANCER produces techno music, pure and simple. Created for a savvy audience by an original master. E-DANCER's first full length LP entitled simply "Heavenly" has hooked audiences and critics alike. Even more mains-stream music publications were compelled to take notice. For example 'Spin' magazine cited "Heavenly" as 'one of the ten best albums you've never heard'. Odd praise? Perhaps.. But accurate nonetheless, for rarely has a record so "underground" in both profile and content, been so obviously rewarding for the savvy listener fortunate enough to listen to it. Indeed, "Heavenly" is a 'must have' in any Detroit Techno collection. This is Kevin's first apperance in central Canada, expect a set of hard hitting party techno that will leave you screaming for more!!

Catalyst with MC Brace - Minneapolis
Crisis Crew
[Link]

This DJ and MC duo are back to lay down some sick Drum & Bass, it is about time Symptom brought in some heavy hitters in the DnB department! The last time they played in Winnipeg was back in 1997 with Mystical Influence...see what 7 years of blood sweat and tears can do to improve your skillz!

Straight from the Advance Dance Power House, Catalyst and Brace better know as Crisis are on the cutting edge of Twin Cities Drum and Bass. This DJ / MC duo have been playing together all over the Midwest and beyond for over 7 years and have all angles fully covered. Catalyst is the mixing mastermind and Brace the lyrical technician. Catalyst will be droppin’ tunes from all the top Drum & Bass producers of the Twin Cities and Brace always has got some lyrical tricks up his sleeve. When this pair gets on the decks and mic they are a force to be reckoned with. These cats always get the massive in the mindset to grind it. The Crisis crew are bringing up some of their latest 12" releases to give away at 20,000 Watts.... keep an eye out for them!

Jeff Galaxy - Regina
Connect Tribe, Symptom Technologies
[Link]

The man behind Connect (the most famous electronic music festival in the prairies) is back in Winnipeg to hit you hard with his powerful tech-trance sounds. Jeff Galaxy is one of Western-Canada's original tech-trance DJ's having played at events across Canada for well over a decade. After laying down killer sets at "Forbidden Planet" and "Death Becomes Me" it is clear that Jeff Galaxy is a Winnipeg crowd favorite, expect prime time tech-trance that will kick you into another dimension! With such a strong following in Winnipeg we thought that it would only be natural to add Jeff Galaxy to Symptom's extended family of resident DJ's! Mr.Galaxy brings much wisdom and experience to the decks, he will provide you with a sonic soundscape that will leave you breathless!

US MARSHALL - Flychild inc/DUI/Sweetleaf prod.

Tribal Trance
[Link]

Marshall has been kicking around dancefloors for the better part of a decade now, getting into trouble wherever he goes. This "kid" as he describes himself (little tough to believe for a guy in his mid 30's) has an undying love for one thing; MUSIC, no matter what type. He plays styles ranging from very deep sexy house to bone jarring techno but it's all music to him. Often melding two or three styles into one complete set, expect to hear a fresh style of progressive tribal trance. Marshall started producing his own tracks last year and has had precious little time for dj sets, but it is always the one thing he enjoys most, rocking it with a room full of phreaks n' fiends. You wanted debauchery, you got it!
