| the original version of the expression we use came from music. Certain sounds are "fatter" than others. It's hard do describe without an actual audio example. But generally, a "fat" sound was said to come from a guitar or bass through a good tube amp and the "fatness" was that warmth and punch it had, so people started saying things like "That's a fat sound". Then it got all messed up and aplied to anything that just had a lot of bass and wasn't necesarily fat sounding. Then rappers mess everything up and are just plain retarded and can't spell.
