Hi,

I just wanted to let you know how discusted I am about your group of people trying to stop citizens from enjoying themselves.

On November 2nd 2002, I invited 20 friends from Toronto and Ottawa to come to the city of Montreal so that we could have a relaxing evening of music and fun and enjoy each others company. No drugs, maybe a little alcohol since it's fun to drink and that always brings for a good time. Unfortunately the night started a little later then expected because we had to move our small party of 100 people to another location.

The new location was not as safe, did not have the proper fire exits, and was a little smaller than the one at 3697 St Laurent which was a totally legit place to hold this gathering. Unfortunately you had to waste your time trying to stop our gathering because you feel that we are endangering our lives. I can assure you that every percausion was made so that we do not endanger ourselves. You being a fire captain have nothing better to do with your time then come looking on the internet to try and find people who want to have a gatherine and stop it. You need to make excuses such as no permit to have a gathering, but as far as i know the laws state that you can have a gatherine in any place as long as there is less than 150 people.

We worked hard to find a location which was safe and in the end you force us to move our party to an even less save location. You will not stop us from having parties. You call call our gatherings raves, but I personally do not wanna promote 1000 person raves and rather have intimate friendly 100 person house parties. Because my apartement is not big enough to have 100 people, I am forced to rent out an outside location. If you feel that ALL locations are illegal to have a party, or the location needs a "Salle De Dance" in the zoning, you will force us to go more underground and use illegal locations which you will never find out about.

If that is what you want then so be it. If you wanna help us in our quest to have a good time, then stop this fuss about small parties and go after the big 1000 person ones run by drug dealers and stupid people who only wanna make money. Stop going after small 100-200 person parties of people who want to just have fun.

Me I do these parties because I enjoy them. I also work a full time legit job at a brokerage company working with computers. I'm am one of the few PHP/MySQL programmers who live in Montreal thus I enjoy healthy benefits from my work. I don't want to cause trouble, but I do wanna have some fun. Hopfully in the future if your willing we can work together to make sure the events I have are as safe as they can be, but please stop with this "Salle De Dance" zoning crap because obviously if there is a "Salle De Dance" there is alcohol involved and some people don't wanna end their night at 3am, and would like to be up all night. This is our right as a person and citisens. Me as a programmer am normally sleeping durring the day and awake all night. Most of my friends are the same way. Just because it's the norm to be up durring the day and sleep at night does not give you the right to stop our parties. Why would it be legal to have a party durring the day all day long but not at night?

Anyways in the end I wanna do another small 100-150 person party and I want it to be held at 3697 St Laurent. The same place you closed down for no reason. Hopfully with your help we can make this possible. If it's not possible, we will have to use a place which is not as safe and personally I don't want this to happen. You have seen the place, you know it's clean and safe place. We would like the party to go from 10am to 7am. There will not be more then 150 people showing up. If you feel we are not folling the rules I invite you to hire a staff to stay the whole night and checkup on the activity happening. If this location is not good can you please suggest a place which is usable which is in our budget of 500$ to rent for the night. I'm not a super rich person and I can't rent an 8000$ place. But I do wanna work with you and I hope you can work with me...

Please get back to me,
David Noah

and i think you should take out the "crap"s and alcohol bit (they dont' have to know that and i'm sure they have laws against that)

Yup, if you mention alcohol they might start insist on carding everyone and that never seems to stop cops from busting a place anyways 'cause there's gonna be "rumors" of underage drinking even though everyone's ID passed.
Also, I recomend maybe passing it through a spell-checker, I found a few spelling errors that might make them not take you seriously.

well typos look bad in any situation. You should have at least ran it through ms-word to catch the obvious stuff.
