Dead Noah: With reference to our first two meetings, we have discussed the circumstances, which led you to be referred to my office. You have admitted that you connected a parallel cable to the back of the printer and the computer in order to enable another student, Piotr Witold Sokilowski, to print without paying for the copies. This occurred in the computer lab 2F-16. Furthermore, you admitted having said to your friends “if I could, I would run him over”, in reference to Mr. Stephan Diamond. You also went to the 2H.12 Operation Center counter and demanded that your cable be returned, otherwise you would take one from one of the computers in the lab. You have explained to me that you were polite and calm in your initial request. However, following Mr. Katz comments, specifically, “it’s a good thing you’re not on this side of the counter or I’d break your fingers”, and Rob’s comments “you’re and asshole” while waiving his fist as you, you lost your composure and felt shocked by these comments from a professional staff. You also admitted to me that you communicated by ICQ with Piotr around 5:00am, during which time, you communicated the intention of bringing your cable to school. I wish to make it clear that your behavior contravenes the Dawson Code of Conduct, specifically articles 2.2, 2.2 and 2.17 which refer to the following misbehaviors: threatening, harassing or assaulting another member of the College, misusing College property or equipment, aiding, being part to, or deliberately concealing another person’s misconduct. Please note that this letter is to be considered as an official warning and that it will be kept as record of this incident in my Code of Conduct files for the duration of your career at Dawson. While you have been honest in relating to me your part in this incident, the degree to which you appreciate the seriousness of your actions is debatable. Therefore, the following measures are established to ensure that you truly understand your responsibility and to ensure that such behavior is not repeated: 1. Your network code is abolished as of now and you are denied access to all computer labs. 2. Your are to meet with myself and the chair of the Department, Ken Fogel, on January 20th, 2000 to negotiate the conditions under which you will be given access to the labs in order to complete the academic requirements of your program. 3. You will personally apologize to Mr. Diamond for your comments, which could definitely be considered to be threatening. 4. You will report to my office on January 21st, 2000 to meet with me and determine the manner in which you will complete 20 hours of community work 5. You will also produce at that time, a written document listing the manner in which you propose to make the security system foolproof. It is understood that failure to respect the terms listed or repeat the offence will result in serious consequences. Hooking a cable from a computer to the printer isn't that hard, i dunno why they'd be all shocked about that.. then again i almost got kicked out for fucking with their linux server, by crashing it during a lab.. stupid idiots arround me all point straight at me when the teacher said "who did that?!".. ehh |
