About that...many wars, mass genocides, school-yard disputes, and much of the biggotry found in this world is directly attributable to religion.
i know that the peaople who cause these problems are extremists, but its presence ignites a certain allegiance and diehard devotion that in some, compells them to act out irationally....if religion were not a factor...much of these problemes would be nonexistant

ok... true, but there will always be opposites, in anything and everything. The people who's lives are enriched by organized religion, which I previously mentioned, are not "extremists", though I don't doubt that some of them could be...

I'd go further and say, that if it weren't for "extremists", we wouldn't have had as many of those wars, mass genocides, school-yard disputes, and much of the biggotry found in this world...

on that i agree...it really is a personal choice...a choice thta i regretably fail to understand...but if religion serves its people well, then i have no reason to question it.

Ufot-god, cause he was so godlike....

Do people believe in God?

Yes.

Thus, God exists.

^^but he only exist figuritively, hes not a tangible being...i guess one might argue that hes present all around us...like in rocks and trees and shit....but personally, i need to see it to believe it. Im an idealist but not to the extreme that i allow myself to let some unknown, unproven force, govern the way i live

An idea/concept is not tangible?

i guess i used the term to freely there...i mean tangible in body, not in spirit. Concepts and ideas are very elusive and not justifiable without using other ambiguous concepts and ideas. Its one things to UNDERSTAND these notions, but its another to have physical prood of their existence, which is the point being argued.

My intention is by no means to patronize belivers, but i fail to understand how people can give themselves, so readily to such a disputable being.

id much rather believe in myself, and turn to myself or those who surround me when hope is lost or whne in time of need.

it seems that much more tangible to seek help from my direct sourroundings...but thtas just me.

but see.. thats the point... people fail to see that God never asked anything OF anyone... people ask him for things, but he made us WHOLLY independent from himself.
He will NOT help us in any way shape or form. We are COMPLETELY independent of Him. I never turn to Him for any type of guidance or help, i also turn to myself or friends in times of need... who the fuck ever said He would help us? Or that we should turn to Him? No one, thats who... and its people like you who assume that thats His will that make religion and religious people look stupid...
I'm wholly independent and my actions are based on my own thoughts... what people fail to realize is taht we ARE ALL FREE to do as we please.
Free Will. THat's what God gave us. Whether you believe that theres someone or something, that God has a shape, a colour, a taste, a sound, a texture, thats up to you... but you can't deny the fact that SOMETHING, some force, some presence, some THING, was THE uncaused cause, the Actionless reaction...
no one said that God would ever help us, on Earth, we're on our own.... its once we die that He will show us His mercy and His will

When i speak of God, i speak of him very conventionally...mostly in relation to Christianity and Judaism. I know for one thing that God DOES say that he will help mankind, that his messengers on earth will provide us with aide and etc etc. Read the bible if you want. Or the torah...both the old and new testament include God stating that fact. And OBVIOUSLY we are all free to do as we please (within the restrictions of the law of course, if u wanna REMAIN free), and whether u attribute taht to GOd or not, is ones personal decision. If you havnt noticed i did mention a few time that what i was writing was only my opinion on the matter. I wasnt critisizing n e one, so i dont see why you should be blaming me of
making religious people look stupid. I was just imparting my views and stating my religious position.
And i dont deny the existence of something way beyond our understanding, but the word God is used so loosely and seems wwwaaayyy to ambiguous of a term. Id rather not label what I see as anythign other then a force. A Nameless Force.

...existance is not measured by belief and opinnion, existance is part of a reality(ours in this case). In reality, if there's no way to proove somethings existance through some type observation/experiment/conclusion supported by evidence, then it is simply a theory.

So, god does exist, in theory, but only because people believe in that theory. For those who don't, god may have never existed at all.

Ufot-making sense, cause u were still on ur first coffee...
