If you want someting sick and twisted though then I suggest you look up books by Clive Barker, Robert Bloch and possibly Dean Koontz.

The best barker stuff has to be Hellbound Hearts (the book Hellraiser was based on), The Forbiden (The book Candyman was based on) and his "Books of Blood" serries of short stories.

I used to love Koonts, he did some amazing books. Watchers was alright, much better than the movies that's for sure. Whispers is TOTALLY fucked up and fuckin' great. Phantoms was fucking great also, good story and a semi-plausible explanation for some missing civilisations. I have very vague memories of Dark Rivers of the Heart, but I think I enjoyed it when I read it. Darkfall is the one that I enjoyed the most though. The first 7 pages had me awake at night for a week. Voodoo rituals and stuff, fucking GREAT book!
