... today my boss, who has a university degree in military engineering (or something along those lines), cathegorically insisted to me multiple times that the correct measurement was infact 6 feet and 1 / 5th of an inch.

I know what an army engineer do, the army make courses for soldier of that trade but it's not given in civilian universities as degree. Maybe the guy is an ex or current army engineer in the reserve?
