Here's a tip for creating a new genre, you have to pick a bpm thats not being used.
Take Moombathon for example, they were trying to aim for that slowed down heavy percussive vibe, too slow for house, too fast for hip hop, somewhere in between. To be honest it probably would have taken off more if they had chosen a better name

I've yet to find a stupider name for a subgenre than twilight trance. Like that shit sounds sooooo much like the sky when the sun is setting. How can you use a visual qualification for something aural ? What's next ? Color coding subgenres ?
BlueHouse because it sounds sad. RedStep because it's aggressive ( or made in Russia ) GreenPsy because it sounds eco-friendly ( read : it's fucking recycled ) Progressive YellowTrance because it's so good, you'll piss your pants ... I should've added BrownPop because... well you figure it out.

As you point out, they carry meaning and are often used to describe emotions. and besides... At outdoor party's, you can actually see the sky. Many psytrance party's are held outside.

well... you do have purple sound... which as I understand got it's name after joker's purple city... You might even push it back to prince's purple rain... sort of an electronic homage to the cheesy synths lines of the 80's. Update » rawali wrote on Mon Feb 27, 2012 @ 8:38pm Either that or because it's the color of royalty... and purple sound is sorta baller like that...

[ pitchfork.com ] I stopped reading there, I think the point was made: The genre-proximity issue, detractors complain, extends beyond just the influence of house. Firstly, the genre in question only exists in the form it does because of brostep and a need to make something less moronic. But what are its unique elements? If you take out the house flavors, juke vox chops, eski synths, R&B-diva samples, and dubstep bass pressure, which bits uniquely pertain to this not-genre? This criticism leads to the conclusion that what we're currently seeing is in fact just what Kode9 called a "holding pattern" for the next big thing, the palate cleanser between meals, musical "sorbet" if you will. And while sorbet's nice, you probably wouldn't want to eat an entire meal of it.

I'm sure stupid kids are like "omg gasfart killer is such a sick dj", while he's spazing out, not touching the mixer or doing anything. it reminds me of woodstock hippies spazing on acid 0-0

He actually goes under the name "Gaslamp" I think, which is pretty ironic to say the least, considering that in one show he "produces" enough gas to fuel an entire city Update » Blisss wrote on Tue Feb 28, 2012 @ 1:29pm You wanna know what else is wierd, it looks like your moon in your avatar is shining on my helmet

Speedos are fine if its part of the gimmick or something, come to think of it I did play a non pants party in camo shorts once but that was part of the gimmick
This guy on the other hand looks like he was out walking his dog and got called last minute to play a massive rave. That hairstyle has got to go as well
