Stupid People Kill Mother Bear For Protecting Her Young

 Coolness: 86510 | this story irritates me. This guy - who chooses to walk his dog in bear country - comes across a mother bear and her cubs. She could have really hurt him and the dog, but chose not to. She just slapped him around and let him go. Then his stupid dog broke loose and provoked another defensive reaction from the mother bear.
Now these geniuses decided she was a threat to humanity, so they blasted her with a shotgun. Her three cubs are now in some wildlife orphanage. great! [ www.torontosun.com ] 
VANCOUVER - Ken Hogue’s heart was still beating fast nine hours after being attacked by a bear at Buntzen Lake in Anmore, B.C., early Monday. Walking his dog just after 6 a.m., the 63-year-old was charged by a protective mama bear, her three cubs nearby. “A glass of wine would probably help right now,” Hogue told QMI Agency. He said the agitated bear made “a beeline” for him after he came over the crest of a road. Hogue then dove down an embankment to escape, unwittingly in the direction of her cubs perched in a tree. “She was on me in a matter of seconds,” said Hogue, who cracked his head on a rock in the tumble. “She threw my dog aside. She swiped me with her claw, left a few good marks on my right arm. “You could smell her hot breath. I waited and waited for the final blow.” After an agonizing wait, he cracked open his left eye. She was just 10 metres away, but Hogue tried to crawl back up the slope with his dog. The dog then broke loose, provoking another charge. He was saved by a passing driver who blasted his horn to scare the animal. Hogue escaped with superficial cuts and a head wound. Deeming the bear a threat to public safety, Mounties destroyed it with a single shot from a shotgun blast to the chest. The three cubs were captured and transported to Langley’s Critter Care Wildlife Society, a group that helps orphaned wildlife. |

Jesus fucking christ ... they went after the bear well after the incident occurred ? The never considered just 'moving' the bear, geographically, away from the residential area? I'm sure that's done sometimes ... It's like assholes who complain about noise after moving to a Condo in Downtown Montreal, these assholes live (I assume) near a forest or something, and then complain about the Wildlife ... Mounties: Riding horses, toting Shotguns, and protecting Humanity from ... bears :/ |
