I think we're in for a lot more compressing the shit out of the music...
More fuckedup 3 d out of phase algorithms that makes sounds feel like there bouncing around in your head. A lot more screaming and yelling. Subliminal messages. Samples will get shorter Bass will get fatter Vocals will get cheezyer Noise will be part of the song. More spoken word. Digital clipping will be the norm Everything will be wireless Justin Bieber will spin dubstep.
I'm feeling shiraz right now.. |

With social networks and the technology
Now and in the future people will have their little moment of glory Probably it won't work, or maybe yes .. but in both ways the person will have grown with those experiences .. Maybe people will be more open minded... don't know So in the end, a song will not have a style anymore, everything now is mixed up it will be just music... for somebody, in Montreal who work full time in a QA office ... A way of communication and not a product you buy
I'm feeling breeeeee right now.. |

As i see you guys are talking about 'new instruments' and stuff like that, I feel obliged to point you to this :
'ISAM' - Full album with track-by-track commentary from Amon Tobin This is 3 month old but really is the future of music for me.. The comment bar is crowded but he is showing a bit of how he approached the conception of the album, and that is really interesting I think.. Here is a few quotes: @2.20: I didn't want to use any drums in this album. this section required it though. they are still not "real drums" which satisfied at least in part my desire to make an album of 'made up' instruments that don't exist in the real world. @15.46: these strings are acoustic modeled synth played from the continuum fingerboard. there are no samples on this album. @26.16: I love the idea of playing futuristic non existent instruments built a high level of detail in their construction but playing them actually quite badly : ) BTW if you actually enjoy this sound and missed ISAM premiere at metropolis a few month ago, I feel sorry for you.. best show in years ! that was (again) some next level performance ! |

^^^I've actually seen something similar to that for guitars.. it's a strip that attaches to the back of the neck, so you can use your thumb for bass/synths while you're playing the guitar itself..

So far the electronic music scene has pretty much been dominated by Europe & North America I think as electronic music keeps on going global and as computers become more and more readily available across the world, you're gonna hear more new sounds like that latin Moombahton sound or crazy percussive African House or even Chinese Breakbeat lol...dunno if that last one exists but I'd definitely be curious to hear it ;)

Song structures/time signatures/chord progressions are always gonna stay the same. But the sounds are gonna keep getting wierder. Spectral Morphing type processing will probably be the next big thing (after granular) which is cool because it means that synthesis and sampling are morphing into the same thing.
I'm feeling focused right now.. |
