This:
No, I am not "trollin'". I listen to alot of stuff like this, among other things as well. My main focus is Industrial (this is going to sound pretentious as hell, but, REAL Industrial), Noise, Ambient, "I.D.M", Powerviolence, Crust, Grind, old school Hip Hop, and Black Metal. Also, a considerable amount of electronic music. Quite a few things in between.

Also, a considerable amount of electronic music. Quite a few things in between. You remind me of myself circa 1998 when all I would listen to were classics of industrial and ultra obscure releases from places like Slovakia and the like. I was waaay into this stuff for years. ( I mean this in a good way, don't worry :) Have you gone through your electro-acoustic phase? :D I used to listen to a show on CKCU (or CHUO?) in Ottawa called Sounds Unlikely, which featured electro-acoustic compositions. Some unbearable to listen to but I felt so goddamn L33T listening to it ;P I also discovered a shitload of music through usenet back when rec.music.industrial was active. The flame wars there make ravewave pretty tame. I also collected a comic series called Those Annoying Post Bros which included reviews of obscure industrial bands in each issue :) Update » raisinlove wrote on Thu Feb 17, 2011 @ 10:04am my fav ambient artists: Lustmord, Robert Rich, Steve Roach and Tony Gerber

Wait, what? EA phase? Are you serious raisinlove? I still love old Varese compositions, stuff by Cage and Xenakis, it's not like people stopped doing performances of it. That's like assuming people go through a classical "phase" before evolving to <whatever genre you feel is the apex of this path>.
Please don't do that. I respect that you found similarity to Matt but your post was totally condescending. You presume that your way of discovering things is correct when it's just how your personality developed! Keep that in mind... My iPod has a bunch of songs on it. I am mainly listening to the Black Keys, Shitmat, and G-Side, some of the Jay Electronica mixtape (particularly "Voodoo Man"), Robert Johnson, and I really dig this Roberta Flack number I have on there, "Gone Away". That's all. It's a 1G iPod nano from 2005.

I was just commenting on how I found we had similar interests and inquired if he had an EA phase like I did. Maybe so, maybe not. I don't really listen to any of that anymore. I still own records, I still respect it, I just don't listen to it anymore. I never claimed my tastes get "better" over time, they simply change. As a matter of fact, the music I'm into these days is waaaaay less obscure, way more simple (and dare I say... way less elitist) than what I listened to back then. Originally Posted By LUKEPERIL

I've had many conversations face to face with him about music and he knows I wasn't dissing what he said. I don't see how you interpreted what I said as a preseumption of doing doings "the correct way". Like you pointed out, I was describing my tastes according to how my personality developped. Now I would like to ask *you* not to make such assumptions about me. If we ever meet, you'll see I'm really not the snob you seem to make of me.
