So people who complain about peak oil... Lets see the numbers...

This is for Canada...

We produce 1,300,000 barrels/day of oil...

Oil sands may represent as much as two-thirds of the world's total "liquid" hydrocarbon resource, with at least 1.7 trillion barrels (270×109 m3) in the Canadian Athabasca Oil Sands (assuming a 10% recovery).

1,300,000 * 365 days = 474,500,000 barrels a year...

1,700,000,000,000 / 474,500,000 = 3582.718651211802 YEARS OF OIL!

So they want to product 5,000,000 barrels a day...

5,000,000 * 365 days = 1,825,000,000 barrels a year...

1,700,000,000,000 / 1,825,000,000 = 931.5068493150685 YEARS OF OIL!

Besides pollution... I don't see the oil running out anytime in the near future with those stats... Even if we supply the rest of the world we would still have at least 200 years of oil!

Whatever the case, with people being paid 1000$/day we should all go to Alberta for 3 months, make 90,000$ and then come back here and party it up since if we don't do it someone else will!

It's true! Actually USA buy more oil from us than Saudi Arabia or any other middle east country.

The problem is not about the amount of oil, but how much it costs.

Slurping oil from an oil field in Saudia costs somewhere around 2$ a barrel.

The most recent Encana/Petrochina oilsands project is valued at about 50$ a barrel !

Oil is going to cost 200, or maybe 300$ a barrel in a few years.

The problem isn't the price or the quantity left, but the irreparable damage it's doing to the environment.

Sure, go make money, fuck ethics, it's for hippies and fags...

one thing i want to say its that i think electric cars are quite stupid :

the battery array is so big and honestly here who didnt have a laptop with its battery not working even before 2 y of ownership sometimes. battery are pollutive as shiiit. plus its a big diesl truck that carries them you can expect that for shure electric dont have that much torq anyways.

i still beleive hydrogen is way better but water / oil / metal usually dont mix well after a while or just sitting there. plus maybe we have a lot of water but lets just hope it wouldnt dry the oceans or make the world a complete 99.999& humidiy rainforest temperature as a downfall. byebye south pole

energy from the vaacuum is an other or the back to the future idea is so fucking genius, well the analogy of it. >> fueling with our garbage. how fucking brain would that be , everything would be ER ward clean too. till a catalyser breaks down lol.

but seriouszly battery suck stupid imo

I think batteries have been out of the question for quite some time, at least in terms of durable energy source. Hydrogen IS the way to go, the problem isn't figuring out how to do it, but getting the fucking oil lobbyist out of the way.
