ADVERSE RECORDINGS presents A.W.O.L. Thursday May 15th @ Amnesia 1421 Bishop St.
Label Launch Adverse Recordings first singles! DEAN RODELL [CONFLICT] ADV01 & The Anxious [Hostile Containment] ADV02

a free and banging night of techno with sets by

Preach (Aria, Edit Recordings) [ www.editrecordings.com ]
In 1997 at the tender age of 17, Dj Preach aka Philippe Babin started his carrier as a dj. His involvement with the following major Canadian rave production companies, Old School and Delphinus allowed him to get behind the decks and demonstrate his romping style of Techno and Tech trance. His musical carrier did not end there. Throughout the music production outlet, Preach has recorded top quality music with Default Recordings, Symbolism Recordings, Ascend Recordings, Edit Recordings, Session Recordings, Traction Recordings and Relentless music. All major labels shipped worldwide via the well known Distribution Companies: Prime and Neuton. His production style is inspired by Ben Sims, Tim Xavier, Yaz, Nivoc, Henrik B, Andrei Morant, Mateo Murphy and many other Canadian and world scene builders. By performing across the American Continent, Preach has landed a Friday night residency at the infamous ARIA after-hours club in Montreal, Canada. With an already solid reputation as a dance floor destroyer, Preach intends to spread the good word of techno in a global way by using his music productions as his weapon of choice. His First Release on Ascend Recordings came out in fall 2001, and was reviewed in the November issue of MUSIK MAGAZINE. Also, on Default Recordings he produced the 'Performance M.F. EP' wich was canned by the likes of BEN SIMS, TIM XAVIER, MATEO MURPHY and MICHEL DE HEY, just to name a few, and was reviewed in mixer magazine by MARK EG in the January 2002 issue.

DJ Preach has been named as the 'Future DJ Heroes' by reknown DJ MISTRESS BARBARA in the DJ MAGAZINE TOP 100 edition. He performed along side the world's best Djs Carl Cox, Sandra Collins, Monika Kruse, Dj Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Henrik.B, Adam Beyer, Steve Stoll, Thomas Shumacher, Danilo Vigorito, Gaetano Parisio, The Advent, Chris Liebing, Ben Sims, Marco V, Luke Slater, Steve Porter, Mistress Barbara, Tall Paul, Guy Ornadel, Johan Gielen, Ferry Corsten and Space DJZ just to name a few.

Sarcastic (Level 4 Productions) [ www.level4productions.com ]
The evil genius behind Montreal-based underground techno pantheon Level 4 Productions, this amorphous being has contributed to the subculture's cabalistic causes on many levels for the past decade. Possessed since childhood with a needling drive to splice together discrete musical compositions, first with cassette decks, microphones, CD players or 8-tracks, it was only a matter of time before an unwitting companion introduced Sarcastic to his destiny: the Technics 1200. His love for the chugging repetitive nature of techno, acid house and hardcore genres remains informed by an early appreciation for hip-hop, stoner rock, jazz and psychedelia of all sorts. Equally at home behind two or three decks, Sarcastic has performed at virtually all local clubs; he1s conquered the main room of Sona, Montreal1s longest standing afterhours venue, annihilated the main stage at Arrival, the city's largest outdoor festival, and, with the Level 4 Productions famiglia, has DJed and collaborated with numerous local promotion companies, including Nice Productions, Morphee, Renegade Legion, Alien Crew, Clonk, Kirk6, Aria, 514, etc., performing coast-to-coast across the country alongside such techno luminaries as Frankie Bones, Thomas Krome, The Punisher, Andrew Duke, Algorithm, Teknobrat, Granny Ark, OS/2, Miss Innocent, Yaz, Preach, DJ Kal and countless others. Describing his own style as 'tek', Sarcastic1s interests range from the dark looping industrial techno of label cohorts Kidstatik aka the Underground Shadow, the funky tek-house of Simmetrik aka Simon G., to his own tongue-in-cheek ghetto-tek productions based largely on recognizable samples from such disparate sources as movies, rap or funk. Residencies at Jai bar, Blue dog, Jingxi or Amnesia have seen Sarcastic spinning anything from pure tek, minimal and experimental techno to acid and deep house; some even surmise that Sarcastic plays hip-hop, downtempo and DnB under alternate guises. It1s downright impossible to pin down the numinous wiles of the Sarcasm.

Mark Belson (Adverse Recordings) [ www.omnismusic.com ]
The Owner of Omnis Music and hard techno imprint Adverse Recordings. Late in 2000 Mark contacted Glenn Wilson as the friendship progressed Glenn pushed the idea onto Mark of starting a label based on his hard lined ideals of the techno scene and thus was born Adverse Recordings. In the shadows for the last year hard at work with label responsibilities Mark will take on his first public performance at A.W.O.L. Mark concetrates on the darker textures but always spices it up with some straight crunching techno. Mark is proud to present ADV01 and ADV02 on this night begins a new page for the diverse scene of techno in montreal.
