Furst: That whole virus thing. Noah explained it before, just gonna reiterate what he said. That picture has no fucking virus, it's just happens to trigger anti-virr software cuz there's some kind of pattern in it. I fucking zipped the file and sent it to my IT dept at werk, and had it checked by Fujitsu for any threats, and it came back clean. Actually had senior techs laugh at me for even thinking this may be remotely possible. I was waving the viral war as a [ rave.ca ] moment. Just preying on the gullible. So yeah, I think it's pretty funny so many peeps here got worried about it. second: Recoil, I will set you up bulletproof. I mean, from what I gather, I can see you've been having problems with your rig as of late. I'm willing to help you out, reinstall and securize the shit out of your system. I mean, It *IS* what I do for a living. And I don't work for a second grade company either... Third: Am I the only one with the perception of this thread as a huge fucking joke? I mean, from the start, I was pretty positive we were hypin'up Epic Coalition. Fourth: YOU CAN'T INFECT AN IMAGE WITH MALICIOUS CODE!!! No way around it, it's just fucking impossible. I mean, The closest possible way of "infecting" someone with a visual element is thru ascii bombs, wich are Highly irrelevant here, since not many peeps still run DOS systems with ansi.sys. So in retrospect, I think it's just funneh as hell. Peeps need to chill their moule, get nekkid and kicked in the fun parts. Can you bleive how tarded this is getting? I mean, fawk. For the record my anti-virus recognized it as a virus, and its not the same as Recoils. His anti virus is Kapersky which is one of the worlds best and it says its a virus I'll go with Kapersky |

There's no reason something like that couldn't be done for PCs were there to be a suitable flaw found in an image decoding/displaying algorithm. And I don't work for a second grade company either... cool thx man! this new laptop I have is fine... though it did say I got a trojan a couple weeks back. it wasnt from porn or anythi8ng like that... strangely, i was looking for info on a DJ friend of mine in hamilton, went to some clublifwe website and tried to load up the page.. it took a while, and then I got an alert saying I have a trojan. hasnt slowed it down or anything, but still. I am jsut very careful what links I click when I go on this one .. the *other* laptop is the one that got fucked up with crazy viruses back in November. I went searching for an episode of Sopranos off of this TV Duck website.. one of the hosts was this Japanese site "youkko" or something. when I clicked the "play button" on the video, nothing happpened.. next thing I know I was infected with *the worst* viruses ever they wouldnt let me on the internet to search for a cure, they redirected my google to Google Netherlands, so it's all in Dutch... but the worst... I'd be sleeping at 5 AM and suddenly a TV informerical would start playing really loud... even though there was no browser open.... sooooo creepy!! it turned into a possessed zombie computer from Hell |

IT'S BULLSHIT. Kaspersky and Norton especially. The majority of the time these programs are identifying viruses where there aren't any, and when you actually get one, oh, guess what? THE UPDATE CONTAINING THAT TROJAN OR VIRUS DOES NOT EXIST YET. People who work in IT know this. That's why we stick with non-obtrusive software like AVG free. Because really, unless you have ultra top secret documents there's little chance that any malicious attacks directed at your computer will be so powerful that you need to have some CPU intensive false-positive crap like Kaspersky or Norton gumming up your works. Not to say I'm really that much of an IT guy, but I'm well informed, worked as a tech support guy for hotels with 100+ APs configured through Cisco switches, and most of the problems people were encountering had to do with them downloading attachments from stupid mass emails or porn. And when I say porn I mean the sites that have you click on all sorts of "Enter" and "visit our sponsor to continue" links, etc. As stated by Moloch, you don't get viruses in jpgs, unless you save them as .exe or .jar files. I doubt you did that Liam. Just run a thorough scan, scrap Kaspersky and switch to AVG free. Less false positives. |

 Coolness: 159120 | I got tired of the gazillion false-positives with Norton a long time ago and ditched it for AVG. I've had a total of 2 false-positives in an year, mainly because I downloaded stuff from highly suspicious sources.
