 Coolness: 103205 | Frankly cutter you are making a lot of assumptions. Yes the kid studied French in school as all us squareheads do. But basic core French does not prepare you to hold a full cnversation with native quebes. The required French credit is only up to grade 10, most don't continue studying after that. Me I did another 3 yrs and I studied French right through university at a bilingual university in toronto no less and it still took me a solid year before I was comfortable holding a full conversation and was able to understand everything. The level of French you graduate highschool with would not prepare you to work in a fully bilingual environment.

In order to be eligible to stay on a rez you need to be at least a percentage of some tribe. I used to date a Ojibwe/Lakota guy and his family was the most accepting and open ever. Even when you go to pow wows and 99% of people there are native they are super nice to you, they still called me white skin (even though I'm metisée myself) but the whole rez and just the people there were super welcoming, giving, opened and freeminded, not to be compared with quebecois/francos attitude towards english people at all. |
