I actually read the first book, just to see what the fuss was about, and I can honestly say that this is the only book that I have ever read where I am extremely morally offended by the message that it gives to girls, and that I think should be pulled from shelves and burned.

And I'm not even talking about how fucking pussy-fied the vampires are and how they sparkle in the sun; The whole Twilight series is essentially about a girl that gets obsessed with dangerous, violent men, stalks them, and then threatens to kill herself if they don't go out with her/break up with her.

And the target audience of this book is impressionable teenage girls.

It's absolutely fucking disgusting that this shit made it into publication.

Proof that even blank playing cards are a gazillion times more interesting than * puke * Twilight.

The only reason Bella and Edward hook up is because he happens to be a vampire and she just started bleeding once a month.

With the vastness of the internet and video games, that's what preteens turn to for entertainment ? I fear for future generations.

Man, the extent of what's in the book is even more disturbing than the "look like a supermodel" culture we're cultivating..

This is outright saying that the best guys for a woman are the ones that are violent and dangerous, because you'll be special enough to tame him, and if he gets violent towards you, it's OK, it's in his nature, you should accept that and stay with him, to the point that if he wants to break up with you because he knows he's dangerous to you, you should threaten to kill yourself to keep him.

I dunno, maybe I'm getting old, but the whole message to young girls that's given in the book is outright dangerous; it's telling them to get into abusive relationships and stick with them no matter what if you think you're in love; don't report him if he hurts you, don't let him leave if he wants to, stick around if his friends hurt you and try to kill you..

And I'm not even going to get into the whole "Edward is 112 YEARS OLD and going to high school to pick up 15 year old chicks" pedophile aspect of the whole thing again..

There are very few things on this planet that I can say I am extremely morally outraged by; pedophiles, religion/the religious, people who hurt/abuse children...

And the Twilight series.

It's message is honestly so fucking bad and dangerous that I rank the message of the book up there with PEDOPHILES

It's to "keep up appearances"

Since he was turned into a vampire when he was a teenager, he thinks that no one in the "real world" will take him seriously.. he'll never age, so holding down a steady job for a long period of time is impossible, and forging SSN is harder than school records/birth certificate, so every three years he and his family move to a new town and a new high school.

It's the fucking lamest excuse ever. I think they say he's got something like 70 graduation certificates.

Yeah, but hey that's nothing new, if you pose as a untamable mess to some highschool girls, they'll fall to their knees in a matter of second. I havent read the book so i dont know, but i think that the author have been very clever at digging into the fantasy of adolescent girls.

17yrs old girls loves mysterious, rebel, wild men, older too. They want adventure and danger, it's a fact. They get kicks out of changing men with problems. It's like looking for a beat up car to fix it and everything. I'v seen alot of this pattern in above 20yrs old women too, but it seems alot more prevalent in young girls.

Once you're tame they complains that you're not the mysterious thing you were anymore. WTF. lol
