Change your DNS Name Server Settings to 67.205.103.55 and watch as the net speeds up... Something is messed up with ColbaNET's DNS server (like always). Using the [ rave.ca ] DNS server the whole net will go faster. If it's not available it will still use the 2nd and 3rd ones which are your ISPs...

Let me know if it works for you!

FAIL.

Tried it.

With my original DNS server: Up=553K Down=3046
With Colba's DNS server: up=629 Down=2695

Sad. But thanks anyways Noah!
I'm feeling up to no good right now..

Umm it should not change the speed of downloads, that has NOTHING to do with the DNS server... It should change the speed of pages loading (how fast they start loading)...

you mean it changes the speed of the address sniffing\translating and not the actual loading of the page (content)

Oh.;)

sorry, my bad.

I haven't changed it back yet, but it DOES seem to speed up [ rave.ca ] tough...

Wow Noah! I'm totally going to use this! I have to assign DNS servers all the time. How does it compare to the videotron dns? I've been using these:
24.200.241.37
24.201.245.77
24.200.243.189
They resolve really fast... how does yours compare?

If anyone's wondering, a DNS is a domain name server. It resolves domain names [ ] into IP addresses (192.168.0.1, etc). Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.
Update » JasonBeastly wrote on Sun Nov 22, 2009 @ 2:01am
for domain names I meant to put some examples; like [ google.com ] etc.
I'm feeling dorksided! right now..

Dunno ping each one and see... Or do the test of trying to change and see if you see a difference. You can always change back...
