In no particular order, they're all equally great imo :p

Evil Dead II
Quarantine
The Serpent And The Rainbow
Dawn Of The Dead (remake)
28 days Later

Evil Dead is demonic posession, not zombies, and 28 Days Later is a rage virus; they're still alive, just totally pissed off.
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

Heh, I'd settle for rewatching Shaun Of The Dead anyway, say, before the festivities. Halloween's the time to ACT like a zombie, not be watchin' em. :)
I'm feeling blue right now..

Quarantine was a virus too, were they walking dead? Yes.

In the traditional sense of the word "zombie" they aren't possesed by voodoo, but anything that's risen from the dead constitutes as a zombie to me. Demonic possesion is somewhat different I have to agree. The person can survive it and isn't necesarily dead, merely taken over by said spirit.

Someone should just vote this thread "Geek" and get it over with

In terms of zombie movies:

#1 - Return of the Living Dead
#2 - Zombi/Zombie Flesh Eaters/Zombie 2 (It's got a ton of different names, it's by Lucio Fulci)
#3 - Deadalive/Braindead
#4 - Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town
#5 - Necropolis (not 100% zombie movie, but it's got a 6-boobed witch that kills people to absorb their souls, which she converts to ectoplasm and breast-feeds the zombie-corpses of her coven as they try and resurrect Satan)

In terms of just awesome movies to watch for Halloween, though:

1 - Return of the Living Dead (I just love it that much, it's total party horror, plus Linnea Quigley = too hot)
2 - Night of the Demons (More party horror, on halloween night, also with Linnea Quigley)
3 - Trick 'r Treat (not the old Trick or Treat with Gene Simons and Ozzy, the new movie that just came out)
4 - Demons/Demons 2 (either or, or both, they're great movies!)
5 - Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (not really horror. but.. come on, ELVIRA!)
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

Also, I will go on to suggest this:

Nightmare On Elm Street: The Unseen Cable Cut

This is a RARE extended, but heavily censored cut of the original "A Nightmare On Elm Street". This is the faux "Unseen Cable Cut", created as a followup to "Halloween II: The 1984 Cable Cut", and inspired by Albany's TV station WXXA's old airings of "NOES" like 2 decades ago. So, like "Halloween II", this contains additional/extended scenes, alternate takes, as well as 80's "Halloween"-themed commercials and advertisements! Not to mention, the film has been over-cropped to 1.33:1 fullscreen and presented in "(((stereo)))"!

Full DVD in .vob format!
Includes printable DVD art!

As well as the two videos I posted in this thread that seems to have just kinda thudded to the ground like a corpse with no replies...

But not a zombie movie! :P

I'd go with:

-Return of the Living Dead
(echoing Screwhead's choice; it's a classic).

-Undead (2003, New Zealand)
if only for the triple-barreled shotgun-wielding farmer/fisherman.

-Braindead/Dead Alive
Again, same as Screwhead, you just can't go wrong with it.

-Dawn of the Dead (2004 Remake)
I know I'd get a lot of shit for it on a horrie movie forum or whatever but even though the original IS my favorite of all time, the remake is that great a party movie that it belongs in there. The original is a bit smarter, very much longer and might bore casual zombie fans.

-Shaun of the Dead / Dead Snow ex-aequo.
While Shaun of the Dead is probably the best, light-hearted zombie movie you'll ever find, most of the people I know have already seen this movie countless times. Dead Snow, on the other hand, just recently came out. I saw it at Fantasia Fest this year and it was probably my best pick during the festival. Nazi Zombies on a mountain with a group of friends being slaughtered while making references to other classics... it's a perfect combination.

As for just Halloween movies, Trick'r'Treat, as Screwhead said, is indeed excellent!

You ain't gonna get shit from me. As much as I loved the original, Dawn of the Dead was a truly good remake. :)

Oh yeah, Zombieland is awesome. Though it's still in theaters, so might be harder to find a good quality of the movie online :)

i seen both, the theater version (at paramount) was really nice.

same with a rip i saw next day online , but yea frames are excluded from the cam witch still leave the whole "lets go to the movies" thing a lot better than the basement dweler cut.
I'm feeling tarfu right now..

It's an awesome tracker if you're looking for the worst possible movies, but they're super anal about ratios and seeding shit.. But if you want the cheesiest, stupidest, worst movies ever put out, that's the only place to go!
