Its one possible way of seeing things. Since i tend to be a live and let live kinda guy, I find the kill or be killed approach very unappealing. Besides War is almost always brought on by Kings, presidents or Charismatic leaders, and are almost always a way of expanding there territory, personal fortune, power... at the expense of the peoples. Even though we feel frustrations and negative feelings once in a while, a well balanced humans is still a fundamentally peaceful creature. Humans require a lot of propaganda, brainwashing and/or abuse to convince them to take the life of a stranger and possible loose his own in the proses. Any animal when pushed to the limit will act violently out of desperation, but will very seldom take a life unless its to feed itself or its family. Besides fascism attracts brown nosers and i HATE brown nosers. anyways... |

 Coolness: 509615 | I also hate brown nosers.. I don't think that war is purely brought on by a single individual... there are some documentaries that show wars behind chimps and monkeys in the jungle. They will actually kill each other and eat each other to gain more territory for their clan.
Individual animals constantly fight for the right to mate and to the best females. Fish live off eating each other. Violence is very much in nature... humans if anything are the exception for the most part as we have laws against violence. But I see your point and don't really disagree. I mean, I wish the world were more peaceful, but I find that there are too many violent situations in contexts that don't merit it and too little violence in the contexts that require it... |

| Coolness: 106170 | The only wars that are brought on by the peoples are civil wars and are usually the culmination of many years of tyranny and exploitation by the governing bodies.
I have also read about the conflicts between rival chimp and ape bands. (in "The Lucifer Principle", by Howard Bloom) So far as what i have read, their wars are mostly to kidnap females. Seeing as they live in clans, renewing the gene pool is important for the survival of the clan. War is most likely the evolution of this need for new genetic material, but today the natural purpose has been replaced by greedy ambition. |
