While police brutality is indeed wrong and does exist, Montreal's last riot was a case of bad rioters, not bad cops. The cops reacted to the violence/chaos shown by the rioters. Your last two videos show the cops doing their job while on the receiving end of multiple projectiles.

I'm all for standing up against a corrupt establishment but you have to be careful not to generalize all cops as being corrupt by nature.

agreed 100%

Listen, I witnessed that fucking shit parade first hand. A bunch of fucking goofball street kids and a few Lavalois douchebag teenagers were at the front of the mob, and they set up a bunch of barricades, vandalizing the scaffolding above the mall across from Place Des Arts (Dupuis something, couldn't care less because I hate malls anyway) in order to make a stand that lasted maybe 2 minutes. They took bricks from that scaffolding and a bunch of other would-be weapons and started throwing them at the cops. The most I saw the cops do was pitch over a dumpster, and I have no idea why. But the row at Place Des Arts was most definitely started by a bunch of idiot punks and kids with no real reason to be there except to work off some aggression. They made the entire case null and void. They ran up the stairs of the Place Des Arts complex, endangering innocent onlookers while continuing to pitch bricks from the promenades. I had been sitting on the steps smoking a joint. I didn't want to have my day ruined by some babies who have no idea how to properly demonstrate, and I think the cops should have picked a few of them off to save the human race from inevitable genetic devolution.

I can't believe you would put these shitty amateur videos in there as if to say the cops started that one. That was just plain stupidity. Nobody in their right mind would think the protesters had any legal right to do that. And I am most certainly not a fan of cops, either. But some people really put the good people at risk with their chaotic ideas on protest and anarchy. Get off the mesk esti.
I'm feeling mighty frisky right now..

You're misquoting/misleading with that last video. The drunk guy was left in an alley and he stayed there until he died of hypothermia. While the cops COULD HAVE sent him somewhere else, they didn't cause him to be drunk and they didn't force him to stay in the fucking alley.

Half your examples are bullshit, man.

Hunter S. Thompson and Henry Rollins both said it best: when confronted with an officer, you play the innocent man who "didn't know and wants to apologize". If there's a misdeed, you can have shit settled afterwards.

Always remember that cops are humans and humans have limits; piss one off too much and you don't know what can happen. In most of the videos above, the "victims" were disorderly and acting in a violent behavior towards the officers. Was the cops' response warranted? No. I don't excuse the cops for ganging up on a screaming woman or tazing a confused Russian man.

But I also understand that had the woman not screamed and fought, there probably wouldn't have been 7 people on her.

While growing up in Hochelaga, I faced cops now and then. I'm not going to pretend that I lead a tough life and all that suburban macho bullshit but nevertheless, there were cops around, asking questions and things like that. I've done "illegal" things.

I've always remained polite and the most I've got is a warning. A friend of mine made it a point to argue with a cop over a jaywalking ticket. He's at his fifth ticket now.

Respect the cops and they'll most likely respect you. There are of course bad apples but not as much as conflicted teens would like to believe.

Demonizing the police force gives an excuse for teens with issues to vandalize and hurt people.

I understand why so many "shocking" videos surface now. Some are indeed disturbing; most are totally explainable after analyzing.
