No, as usual it is a scam, although hunting down accurate details is difficult. 1471 wasn’t any help. A quick browse around the internet via Google, finds me a few sites, some with phone numbers listed, and all with the same story. An automated message by a female with an America accent tells you that you have won a trip to the Caribbean, and to press 9 to claim the prize. There then seems to be some confusion as to whether you are charged for the call if you press 9. The stories are clear however, that if you do press 9, you are connected to another American, mainly a male, who then tries to get more information, such as address, credit card details etc. If you refuse he becomes abusive, even swearing down the phone at you. Doesn’t seem to be a way to block these kind of calls, as people signed up to the TPC also receive them. Looks to me like yet another computer automated dialing system, which connects you to a human who then tries to elicit information to commit fraud. My advice is don’t press 9 - if you win a competition you never entered, it’s suspect. If you did enter, and there is a ‘processing fee’, it’s a scam. Tell everyone in your family, don’t be caught out by these *******. millions of ppl in the same , juice , bell profiteering on the problem rather than solving security issues : proof their not even improoving their hardware for a 10 year period that could be extended to 15 or 25 last i heard. now if you read the biguinning of the yellowpage or phone book. there are bell regulations at the buiginning of the book. if they would follow the first instance , then all would be ok, but now they deny it, ( YOU CANT HARRASS but other people have free way to do so ) next if you want security according to thoses regulation pages, you need to : BUY call display 5$ month BUY a second ring/number 5$ (since the second one isnt listed) so they profeiteer 10$ MINIMUM from this witch represent 120$ per year, and sice it represent 10$ out of a 30$ monthly registration this is a 33.3% infation on the initial bill FOR NOT DOING SHIT. simple, pâcket filter the line for christ sake, all CO racks are FLASH programmable. There is a proper way to do everything and now you know how you can do it also. |
