I just don't understand the audacity of some of these bitches, yeah you munch carpet in your spare time and you prefer plastic dicks with no man attatched to it, good for you *applaud* do you have to mention it in every god damn thing we talk about ? no...you don't. In fact nobody gives a fuck.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, fuck your silly ass pride, keep it to yourself, it doesn't change the fact that I think you're a complete moron any more than I did.

I'm gonna call those ppl Dycho's. Cause they need professional help.

Now to go and add some fuel to the fire a little.

I'm about 95% in agreement with Alex on this, and here's why; I'm going to post something in one of my journal entries here on ravewave (this one specificaly), and for those that don't know, I'm bi and had a boyfriend for a while, which ties into what I'm posting (incase anyone was wondering)

Time went on with my bf, and he introduced me to people at GALA (dawson's gay and lesbian association). It's there that two things happened; first was my discovery of how much a crock of shit gay pride was, and how embarased I was to associate myself with the "alternative" lifestyle. They were only interested in gay rights for one reason: so that they could claim discrimination when they went out of their way to make straight people (refered to as the derogatory term "Hets") uncomfortable. It had nothing to do with coming to terms with yourself, with finding ways to help you deal with the problems you might be going through, it was simply a club dedicated to telling each other stories about how they "freaked out some hets" the other day, which very much dissgusted me. The pride parade has absolutely nothing to do with being proud of who they are, it is simply done to shock and dissgust straight people and homophobes, so that they can then claim that they are being discriminated against.

If you poke a dog with a stick, and it bites you back, it is not the dog's fault, it is yours for provoking, and that is exactly what they are intent on doing: poking and poking untill there is a backlash, and then they can cry about being a victim of an unjust society who can't accept them for who they are.

As "stupid" as it sounds to say, and as "wrong" as it is, I firmly believe that the 'homosexual community' would be a HELL of a lot less discriminated against if they learned to just be themselves, without putting so much emphasis on "Hey, check me out, I'm gay! Yo, everyone, fag over here! Right here! Look at me! I suck cock/eat pussy!"

They go totally out of their way to "freak out the hets", and then they get pissed off when they get the shit kicked out of them.

I'm not saying that ALL instances of gay-bashing are for this reason, but a hell of a lot of them are. They should spend less time anouncing to the world that they're into the same sex, and more time trying to find happieness and companionship without running a fuckin' circus down the street every year.

Yeh I'm more against this whole "let's freak out hets" shit, there's nothing wrong with the pride, just the extremists, if I can call them that.

And scott, I know it's a heated discussion, I figured why not take it to the public.
Sorry for making assumptions about your sex life, it was a misplaced comment and wrong of me.

And congrats on being [ s ] short ppl have it tough.

Yeah, same here.. A good friend of mine that died a while ago was gay, but he had the same "view" as me; the pride parade is the single most harmfull thing that the gay community can do to itself - it's just a fuckin' freakshow of gay guys and girls re-inforcing all the negative stereotypes about the gay community into the "rest" of the people.

It was awesome hearing an extremely gay guy (head costume designer of CBC) talk about how he "can't stand those fucking faggots on parade"

You don't post 'cause of shit like this? well don't type in it if it's too "heated" for your taste...
I speak my mind, and it's people like you AND ppl like fred that I wanted to hear responses from, not just this "oh alex you homophobe" one sided discussion, it's bullshit and you know it. I have a point I'm trying to make without coming off like a complete asshole, it's a thin line I'm walking here but I wanted to discuss it without arguing. Try to acknowledge that I'm not looking for a fight..

I think we should have a straight parade. That way, both sides of the coin can be equally represented.

Well that's all I meant you don't see us parading around handing out flyers n shit. It's just common ground that you have respect for a persons sexual nature, but not hate them or love them for it. It's not like ppl with noses and ears should get more respect than someone without...it's understood that sexual preferences should be respected, but when you go out of your way to turn ppl off from that, that's when I have an issue.

For instance, a girl that takes the bus home with me from work has the word DYKE engraved across her head with an ugly ass blue mohawk, first of all good luck geting a job, 2nd it makes your "people" look terrible, no self esteem what so ever. It just looks bad...

Flyers? that promote gay pride? Maybe the parade, or the events surrounding pride week, but I've never seen a flyer that was all like:

"HEY!!!! BUTTSEX!! have you tried it yet?"

LMAO!(at Jason's post)

Ok, so I just read this entire thread, and I might be setting myself up to get flammed, but I agree with what Host is saying. I have quite a few friends who are gay. They are proud of who they are, and aren't afraid to be open about their sexual orientation, but they also don't feel the need to flaunt it at every opportunity and know that who they are is alot more than just what gender they feel attracted to. A very good friend of mine, who I've known for about two years, when I first met her I didn't know she was a lesbian until we started to get really close. It just never really came up. She's proud of who she is, her sexuality included, but being a lesbian isn't ALL that she is and she doesn't define herself by that alone.
Like what screwhead posted, being proud of yourself and being able to find self acceptance is a lot more important that screaming to the world I'M GAY AND I'M PROUD!!!
I'm feeling a little teapot right now..
