I don't use Ebay personally.

But my girlfriend does. So if anybody here uses this service extensively and have a lot of knowledge on Ebay's rules, how it works and how business is and should be conducted on there, I'd like to know something :

My gf bid on some really interesting items (clothes) and won multiple auctions from the same seller. When the time comes to sent in her Paypal payments, she receives e-mails from the seller mentioning that " sorry, but this item is sold out. But you can bid on any other item you'd like, I'll give you 10% off the next item ". Fuck that, your other items suck, that's why I bid on THIS ONE, you moron.

Is this normal practice on Ebay ?

Auctioning items you DON'T EVEN FUCKING HAVE to begin with ?

I'd like to think that if I bid on an item against 15 people and I WIN, you better damn well give that fucking article to me. That's how auctions should work, no ? You normally HAVE the item, you auction it and you GIVE IT to the person who won, they give you their cash and the deal is done, right ?

" Yeah sorry, I know you bid on this aircraft carrier but it just so happens I don't actually own one. Sooooooorry. But hey, I've got a whole bunch of neon green shoelaces, you can bid on those if you'd like. "

Ebay washes their hands, saying they don't want to get involved and we should work it out with the seller. I think I should auction this seller's broken legs on Ebay.

Is this standard practice ? And what would you do ( or should we do ) in this case ?

The seller's got a whole lot of negative feedback coming her way ( she even goes as far as saying in her ads to " not give her negative feedback, e-mail me and we'll work it out " ) unless this is something that's been known to happen on Ebay and we should just suck it up.

Any (positive) feedback appreciated on this matter. Thank you.
I'm feeling fallout 3 right now..

no....
This is not normal...
I buy ALOT on Ebay...and this has never happened.
She can open a dispute with Ebay and she can email Ebay directly and deal with them and figure something out...
Theyre pretty good for that usually
I'm feeling delicious right now..

Yeah, never happened to me either, sucks for your gf bro :(

Is the item so unique that no one else is offering it?

And yeah, I'd send feedback. Might even be negative feedback, since she can't get negative feedback back from the seller, IIRC. This way other buyers will be warned, and the seller might modify his selling habits.

Live n' learn, but yeah, it sucks, I feel for you guys :(
I'm feeling re-1up'ed right now..

If the seller is Canadian, I know there is a law prohibiting the selling of items you don't have in stock ... think it's the same in the USA, not 100% sure though

Check with protection du consomateur if it's canadian, and I think the USA version would be Bureau of Business Practices, or something like that
I'm feeling on fire ! right now..

I got screwed over for a pair of Swear that NEVER arrived (payed 80$ for them)

The dispute didn't do nothing, never had my money back.
I'm sure the bitch never sent them cause they finished really low (60$-- really cheap for swears) and she made a lot of excuses for the late arrival (going to the post office to see, should be there in 5 days blabla) but never gave me the tracking number... until it was to late for me to do a paypal complaint.

I was naive, I got fucked... live and learn I guess...

Well, she just sent a dispute e-mail to Ebay... but I'm not holding my breath. So far, they're avoiding this matter like the plague, for some reason. They keep directing us to the Resolution Center so we can work it out with the seller. Erm, DUH, the whole reason we are sending you an e-mail is because of the seller's conduct, Ebay.

And Masa, yeah if only she could just tell that seller to fuck off and shop somewhere but no, she can't find these items anywhere else, that's the thing. :/

And Snakebite, the seller is from Hong Kong so she's in the clear.

even if they advertise the real one, the ship you some fake, ive read the sellers comment and people are allways complaining that its the fake ones.

Hey, was trying humor, but heh, I get what you mean. Though to be fair, I don't think anyone but Chinese nationals would know what these laws entail, if even :)

And yeah, whatcha doin' tonight? I might just pop in at Passeport for a quick pitcher or two :)

Noted. :)

We shall refrain from getting stuff from these parts I guess. It sucks 'cause the clothes she found there were really nice.

Thank you for your replies, people. :D

Masa: didn't catch the joke ... hehehe

Tonight I'm having a supper with friends, but I'm still free tomorrow night ^_^

Back on topic: china and such places are great to order from if you want cheep replicas, but don't go buying thinking you get the actual brand though ! They're usually made from cheap materials by cheap labor. Otherwise, it does work the same.

The MDR-Z700s are actually sony headphones too; but there fake z700s too (which is probably what you got)

The real MDR-Z700s are for the Asian market and look identical to v700s...i coudlnt figure out if they perform the same...or if theyre just a lower tier product
I'm feeling empty right now..
