Coolness: 76720	Luke Peril: You wonder why I would take that sort of name huh... Well I erroneously thought for the longest time that if you smoked too much weed it made you "Peril" because some of the people I used to hang out with back during high school thought that's what the term was. Turns out it's "Paro" as in paranoid. Either way, works for me. My music always involves fucked up string parts, inspired by the compound chords of Debussy and Satie (who shares my first name). I felt there was a pervading sense of peril to my stuff and that was the name I wanted to take (and still often go by). I told Odie (Sixteen Armed Jack - there's a story with a wicked name), and he starts making jokes about Luke Perry. I thought of that scene where Dylan pushes Kelly down the stairs and the whole 90210 plot turns to the problem of abuse. Then it hit me why he was making those jokes, I scrolled back and read "you should call yourself Luke Peril". I was like, fuck, that's totally what I'm looking for. A name that mocks a pop culture figure while speaking of my own inspirations. I know, totally pretentious. But it's one of the first times I came up with a nickname that fits. Better than Freshee by far. That one is no fun.
