Never seen so much hate in one go, you guys are awesome :) Lets get some facts straight: Broken Crew was not the first to play nu skool breaks, they claim did, but they didn't :) I often booked them at my night and gave them all the respect they deserved Then they screwed me out of a night (forgot to mention that didn't you bro ;) and started a beef with me...not the other way round. As for this being a diverse breaks night it isn't, its still the same of nu skool breaks bullshit As for ego, Broken Crew are obviously the only breaks djs in this city and they obviously think they're the best and above all criticism. Anyhow I'm a good guy, I work hard, and am very well respected across this city and most all I have integrity. Now if you want to start some personal insult shit and then get mad when I answer we can do that: Broken Crew is run by a drug dealer named Rhys Talyor, who also incidentally is known have a history of violence and has been known to beat up his exgirlfriends, he's also an ex thief who used to break into peoples homes. He also screwed over Sase as well as my self and is constantly talking shit behind my back. All in all a great guy and a perfect role model for the younger generation. So I'll say it again, he and the rest of the haters in this thread can basically blow me if thats okay I never needed these guys or any other dnb wanker to get gigs and I get more than I can handle. Incidentally the dnb has one of the worst reputations in Montreal for drama so I would't pay it too much mind. By the way, Reggie, like Melodie once said your music really is crap, and if I had the skills you do and produced the garbage you come up with I'd honestly be embarrassed. Many guys were playing breaks before me, Rob Brown, Sase One, Gnat, Luv, Nice Fred, Ram and probably some other cats I forgot I said I founded the first breaks weekly in this city and that it was the first nigth to feature nu skool breaks. All that is properly documented and if I get my scanner working I pull up the newspapers articles By the way Reggie, the Grill was voted as one of Montreals best clubnights at the time, we released a mix cd on the 2 Wars label out of Toronto that was distributed internationally, you can read the inlay and find out more about my night and what it was about. If you can track down the Funk Face mix, you'll own the first mix cd to feature nu skool breaks in Montreal. We sold 500 copies. Broken were still doing Blue Dog back then, they used to bake pot cookies and give them away at the night which I thought was a very original concept
It was mixed by Dj Scissorkicks, a well known breaks producer from the UK and also the first nu skool breaks dj to play Montreal at the Grill. He had the choice of recording this mix ANYWHERE in the world and he choose to do it at the Grill because he rated as one of the best clubnights he'd ever played. Now tell me, do I have a big ego and am I liar if this was the opinion of one of the biggest Canadian breaks labels and seconded by an actual UK breakbeat original. Don't think so, its just what I was into at the time. I didn't do it for the money or the fame, I just enjoyed doing it. |
