Mutant Breaks Compo Theme: The reckless pursuit of utopia at all costs, even utopia. Deadline: June 27th, 2008 Rules: * Breakbeats, basslines, any tempo, any thing. * Song/track must be multi-platform [ www.renoise.com ] 1.9.1 XRNS files, no VST/VSTi/LADSPA plugins allowed. * 1 winner, chosen by me, arbitrary criteria, heavy drinking The winner may choose any *one* of the following: * Registered copy of [ www.renoise.com ] paid by me. * [ www.renoise.com ] T-Shirt and Mouse pad, paid by me. * [ Entire"> ] Trotch discography, mailed to you from my closet. More tips: Check the included demo songs. Also, this guy (botb, netherlands, Because knows this guy) released a bunch of breakcore in XRNS format that can loaded up in Renoise and studied. His style is insane though (ridiculously fast BPM) [ www.yomirecords.com ] |

 Coolness: 201200 | I've been meaning to get my renoise game on.. the program is an exact duplicate (+ more features) of the first program I made music on: fastracker II.
fred: this program IS fastracker II, nearly nothing has changed, they just added some great features (like a real mixer and dsp effects). |

| Coolness: 44275 | There are several different Tutorials on Youtube, just do a search for "Renoise" on said Tube Of You and you'll get a pile of results. A lot of European accents going on, post colonial english in full effect, but the info is digestible. |

Seems pretty pointless to be using this program for Breakbeats. Isn't using a tracker mainly for IDM and weird industrial anyways? I'm not complaining, I'm just curious. I will still try to come up with something non-the-less.. |

There are a few demo songs included with the application. Have a listen to "Ride the lightning" and "Digging for gold" under the Help menu, which shows two radically different styles in the same application. You can do anything with Renoise. You can't, however, do it like you do in Logic or Cubase or Reason or Acid or whatever else. This is a Renoise contest, the breaks part is secondary. Have fun.
