Hello all,
I am going to be getting CD DJ 800's and was wondering if anyone can give me advice on these cd djs. I am used to playing on tuntables i know it is the same concept but are there other things that i should know about these machines? All i have ever played on ar tables.

I have played on cd djs before but maybe a half of dozen time before. Does it come down to practice or are there things that i should know?
I'm feeling i love being 30 right now..

It's dead simple. if you can mix on vinyl, you can mix on CDJ800s. The only diffrence is that you can set the cue point, which you can't on vinyl, so you just push a button and you're back to where you want to be once it's beatmatched.
I'm feeling penishands right now..

The turntable and CDJ touch are not even comparable. If you know how to beatmatch, only task left for you to do is play around with them so you can get the hang of it.

that's it so one press of the cue and i can start the track cool. Simpler what if i press the cue and it isn't where i want it to be can i back up the track and press the cue again?

yup, you can reset your cue point as many times as you want. Also with the 800s you have a looper, and if you don't feel comfortable with em, they ave a vinyl mode too.
I'm feeling wtf charles? right now..

only one bug with these machines( i own some ) the loop mode has a tiny delay so you have to readjust one table every time it reloops . Otherwise they are amazing!

I have the 200 right now, and I can't decide myself to buy 800, cuz they don't have the 0.02% pitch adjustment, which kind of suck for the price you pay them
I'm feeling home, sweet home right now..

i tried the 200 but i dont like the feel of the digital wheel the 800 really feel like turntables and the response is unbelievable . All the fun of them are in the precision of cueing in vinyl mode... u can mix anything at the speed of light !

yeah, too bad the jog wheel on the 100s is shit for DJs used to mixing and cueing on vinyl

meh... its sure as hell is different but it is the same basic mechanics... 10 hours of practice, give or take and you got it down to a science

not quite.. The CDJ100/200/400 wheel works like the Virtual DJ software; you spin if forward, and it just puts the pitch up by a little bit (don't know the exact amount, but for argument's sake let's say +0.5%) for as long as you're turning the wheel.. if you spin it backwards, it just sets the pitch DOWN to -0.5% from where you currently are for as long as you're spinning the wheel.

The 800s have a much wider range, and turning the wheel faster will speed the track up a lot more, and spinning it backwards will slow it down a lot more, and not just set it to a static +/- 0.5%..

cueing with the 800+ is also way better and more intuitive (especially for a DJ used to vinly) because you can just drag the platter to the spot you want, hold CUE, and bob's your uncle, whereas the 100/200/400s have that shitty loop/pause thing that sounds like a CD player that fell down the stairs to try and find your cue spot.. Yeah, with some practice and knowing your tracks you can get good at using it, but IMO it's total shit for most things, and is nowhere near as precise and accurate as the 800/1000, which are more like vinyl and you can much better evaluate where you are in the track and where you want your cue set.
I'm feeling penishands right now..

what i meant is that you could be mixing with a tape deck with a pitch on it... once you have an ear and have a technique to beatmatch, the adjustment from one machine to another aint that bad

oy i like cueing with the cdplayer down the stairs thing... take your cue point to the exact frame where the first time is...

but yeah... ive been loving vynil just because you can read the gooves though... i guess you get an equivalent with the 1000 on the screen yeh?

Advice for the 800's.. DO NOT use the vinyl mode on it.. its WAAAAAAY to sensitive..

apart from that, they are some of the best CDJ's out there..

!!! DJ CLOWN APPROVED !!!

i allways use the cdj mode, then put vinyl when its time for a BACKSPIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

at least with the 800 it allways works, because sometime the "pin hole" on the vinyl is too tight and you fuck your backspin up!

You know you CAN adjust the sensitivity of how much pressure the platter requires before it starts dragging the tune around like it was a record, right? 'cause vinyl mode on that thing is the only reason I can use it.

thats bullshit...
it's all about the vinyl mode...
if you mixing a tune you're not s'possed to touch the platter.
just like when your mixing a tune with vinyl your not really s'posed to touch the record (pushing and pulling on the platter is much more accurate method)...
this is why the cdj-800's have 2 points of adjustment in vinyl mode.
the platter for cueing, scratching, pullbacks etc.
and the jog wheel for slowing it down and speeding it up.
all the cdj mode on the 800 does is make the whole platter behave like the jog wheel does in vinyl mode like it would on a lower quality cdj.
I'm feeling republican right now..
