General Romeo Dallaire saved over 30 000 people with the few peacekeepers left, he was abandoned by the UN. The UN ordered him to pull out of the country but he disobey the order and stayed with a hand of UN soldiers. It's a miracle that he saved so many lives with the few ressources he had. No major canadian troops were deployed there, Bosnia was more important by the eyes of the politicians. Exept him and few advisors, they were the only canadians there. Yes, the airborne regiment fucked the shit up but it was only 2 canadians soldiers involved. They got a trial and sended in jail. The Regiment was even disolved cause of the event, such behaviors are not tolerated. We're not like the US army who close the eyes of the 30 000 US soldiers who are now fucking the shit up in Iraq and the past wars. Both events are 15 and 14 years old. My misguided patriotism? Where you see this wannabe marxist?! It's not my fault if some people are saying bullshit, Im just making the proper correction with facts and truth and prove it with sources if necessary. The others try to do the same against me but STRANGELY cant do the same... :-/ |

Specially about something close to me. No Regi, I didnt make a tour in Afghanistan, yet. Im in the "groupe bataillon territorial" a group(mostly reservists) specially trained to protect the population in case of a crisis/attacks or disasters inside the country. |

He did a few tours in Bosnia, too... which was pretty depressing. His unit spent some time digging up mass graves, and documenting the genocide that went on over there. A. Canadian soldiers are commiting human rights abuses in Afghanistan and shouldn't be doing so B. Canadian soliders shouldnt be in Afghanistan regardless of whether or not they're commiting human rights abuses or C. Canada shouldn't have an army at all Cause these are three very different issues and you seem to be conflating them. A. is an issue of discipline and norms within the millitary. B. is a political issue concerning what role the millary should play. C. is an issue concerning the nature of a what a state is and what it needs to function. |
