i'm not making a full out switch to digital but, i need to play digital files sometimes...
so i'm trying to figure out where is a better place to put my money...

here's the pro's and cons...

traktor skratch

pro's
- i can use it on 2 channels with my home computer

cons
- i have a desktop and ain't gunna drag it around to gigs.

cdj 800

pros
- can easily drag it to a gig if i need to.

cons
- can only afford one for the price of traktor

anyway give me some input...
I'm feeling republican right now..

two cdjs-800 + shitloads of cds... not exactly what i call easy to carry...

what are computah requirements for traktor exactly... i mean... if its not to much of a bitch you could prolly get a 200$ laptop for gigs

Ive been a vinyl junkie for 20 years
ive always hated cdj's & digital crap
but that changed when i bought a cdj 800
its great to scratch, the 100% pitch
and the loops !!!
and for it being heavey to bring wiz cd's
well you seem to have experience heavey vinyl
crates so no problemo !!

id go cdj, even if the final result is the same, i dont like to fool around with a computer when mixing, unless doing a live act,
i prefer putting cd in a machine then mousing and scrolling a playlist. i know its dumb but its like that

id go cdj!

Deadfunk is right... Not only do you need to bother the dj playing before you while you're plugging your shit but you're also worried that someone's gonna bust your laptop like I've seen it happen before.

CDJ's.. why have a third party to get the same end result ?? for a few extra effects ??

I'd rather bring out my music than my laptop and soundcard to gigs.. i know that if i drop my vinyle bag not much will break... not the same for my laptop.. not to mention how humid it might get in a party to dirty / crash my pc !!

Computers are for productions, not mixing.. in my opinion at least !!

either way though, its really a personal matter of taste and habit !
I'm feeling rewire 4, march 22nd right now..

yeah i'm thinkin cdj's are the way for me...
the cheap ass in me was thinkin' digital vinyl because of the price.
lately i've been using a borrowed torq conectiv at home to work out some mixes for gigs with cd players just so i can see how some tunes groove together.
i actually like the software but the hardware is piece of shit that i would never want to gig with and i really don't like the way d/a converters work with no through switch... it's really a toy in comparison to traktor or serato.
but yeah...i've got a bit more experience with the 1000's, but the 800's seem to have all the features i really need. so i'm thinkin' i'm gunna buy one and hopefully eventually be able to afford a 2nd (or maybe find a cheap pair 2nd hand?)...
but that brings me to my next question...
new or 2nd hand?
do i need that warranty?
anybody have experience with them braking down?
does it happen often with extended use?
how durable are they?
does anybody know if the lens on the mk2's is made of plastic or glass?
and how easy and expensive are these puppys to fix in the event of a disaster?
thanks in advance.

I had cdj-800 and I switch to traktor after!!!! But I came back to cdj-1000 cuz Once Traktor just shut down on a gig, I had a macbook and it just suck to plug all this shit into dark tiny booth! And CDJ will never shut down so VIVA CDJ!!!!! Traktor crash once but it's too much for me! fuck off!
I'm feeling destiny 2 may 31th 2 right now..

them cdjs are big bulky chunks of metal... much pioneer's mixers... durability is top notch, I've personally never had the chance (or uhm... unchance) to play on cdj-800's that had any kind of a defect on em

might be wrong but... I'd say second hand aaaaaaalllll the way
