As far as I know Luke Peril is neither 16aj's manager nor the promoter for urban beatster events

Was the sentence are you a promoter or not not a clear statement?!!

At any rate, enough talented local talent at this jam, and not enough room in this thread for drama.
I'm feeling gettin baked right now..

Yikes... I'm getting booked and nobody even knows how bad things are for me.

First off... I just got evicted. I can't spend my money on any parties of any sort. I'm going home for the holidays and I hope I won't spend the whole weekend weeping about how little time I have to move. I'm lucky that I have one single option for a place to move, but that doesn't mean I can fit all my stuff there.

Secondly... my laptop died a cruel death back in November, I went to a repair shop with it and they gave me an estimate of $1700 for repairs. It happened right before I went to Toronto for most of that month, so that estimate was at some fancy Mac store out there. I apparently have to replace my Macbook Pro's logic board, top and bottom casing, and the logic board is about $900, the case is about $500, then they tab on $300 for labour. INSANE. I found out I could run my hard drive externally. Looked like it was going to get me by, but since that's a USB enclosure that I bought, and it's a cheap-ass piece of crap (which is strangely all I can seem to find that runs a SATA 2.5" drive), and I thought that the eSATA Express Card I bought would run it but alas, I can't boot from the card, things ran awfully slow once I got this thing.

Then I find out there's something wrong with the cable, and I realized that I couldn't even move the computer a little bit or the cable would end up shifting in the USB port and cacking out, causing the computer to freeze and the power to go all erratic on the hard drive. For a few weeks I was trying to run my lappy off the drive, which meant adjusting the cable, turning on the computer, getting an error message, turning it back off again, then back on again, getting another error, until I'd finally get the cable in the right spot so the damn thing would boot. Then the final blow happened, one day I'm doing something typically useless with my laptop, like listening to Mike Jones on ITunes, and the thing freezes. I start it up again and it can't find the drive. I run Disk Utility off my mac install discs and the drive is IRREPARABLE. So yeah, it seems the drive is dead... ALONG WITH A YEAR'S WORTH OF DATA. WHICH I WAS TOO STUPID TO BACK UP.

So I'm essentially back to running off of an old Celeron-chip computer, 1G of RAM, 1Ghz processor, 128Mb video card, and a faulty Edirol FA-66. I've gone entirely ghetto. And I no longer have my newer tracks, including some very complex shit that I wrote in 17/8, 7/4, 9/8, 5/4, and basically a bunch of "experimental" time signatures. (V-Snares rocks 7/4 like crazy and most people dance to it anyway) I'm trying not to think about it. A friend of mine has been helping me out with the drive, and I'm waiting for his copy of Diskwarrior 4 in order to fix things. But it doesn't look like it's going to give me back my hard drive or the functionality required to do a live set.

Yeah so, I guess I'd love to pull out a hat and ask for donations to keep me from becoming a total wash-up, but I am. There you have it. Haters, take your easy shots. I'm sure a bunch of people will get a thrill out of hearing that my shit is belly up, but fuck all y'all. And those of you who showed me love in the past, many thanks, but I'm afraid that I am regrettably forced to be on hiatus. That means I still can't put out a disc on HMCR (which was the plan for November), I still can't drop something off with C64 at Dross:tik, I still have NO UPS.

So you still want to book me? I could play some old tracks I wrote with Impulse Tracker. That's about it. But in all seriousness, I got nothing to show for a year of hard work and I've returned to being a sessions musician, recording engineer, synth programmer, and guitarist for some work I've been doing with my friend Mikael. I might play a few open mic nights, and all I have in the works is helping him out on a remix of Rick James' "69 Lives". So I'm trying to roll with the punches. But this last one was huge.

Message to everyone out there: back EVERYTHING UP. COMPULSIVELY. It's the only way to avoid this sort of crisis.

Peace.
Luke Peril, erstwhile producer of way too strange beats.

Thanks for the props though, I guess it's good to hear.

Considering a Breakcore DJ set, although I mix like shit. But I mean, why spin it badly when Fishead and Inyourface will be dropping it like it's hot the night before?

Evidently, Golgo was talking about the URBAN CHAOS gig, not the Random-O-Tron the day before (tonite).
This UBC thread kinda larged out a bit off track, so...
