| I'm just pissed that I got such a huge fine for something so minor. I'm going to fight it, hopefully the judge will see that the fee is excessive and let me off, or at least make the fine a smaller amount. I mean, a parking ticket is $42, and I get one for $166 for a tiny cardboard box?! |

I don't think you can negotiate the price of the ticket. You either get to pay the fine or you don't. If what you said in the OP is 100% true, then you don't deserve to pay. Can they prove beyond a reasonable doubt that that is indeed your recycling bin? Usually the key is bills or any letters with your name and address on them. Dunno about the bin though, all I can say is GL. |

I didn't think you could either, but my friend said he got a lower fine for pretty much the same infraction after he went to court. |
