If you really love the person, an intervention might help (or make things worse) and then there's the extreme solution of calling the cops, putting them in rehab, tying them to a chair and feeding them nothing but oatmeal, etc... |

| I'm with Zed on this one.. I've noticed trying to help people that aren't necessarily asking for it yet clearly need it just makes them feel worse about themselves and thus their situation degenerates even further... its kind of a catch 22 because you feel helpless maybe even like a bit of a failure not having an effect despite your greatest most sincere efforts.. Most of the time these people will take you down with them if your not careful... not on purpose mind you, but via the same negligence that got them where they are in the first place. Sometimes its simply our good nature and presence that enables them to fall into such precarious situations in the first place not to mention our own ego that drives the desire to witness the healing first hand. Honestly if its got to the point you need help to help them (ie. this post) I think its safe to say now is a good time to take a few steps back and store your energy for when you will need it most. peace -K |
