Paradinas has done a ton of breakcore material under various pseudonyms (Kid Spatula, Rude Ass Tinker)... and some of Speedy J's stuff is pretty damn fierce (the Ni Go Snix 12" is still a sickening piece of wax a decade after it came out!)... Panacea's early work was at the forefront of the sound (there's a case to be made that tracks like Tron, Torture and Hellbringer certainly aren't drum'n'bass - and his remix/collaboration work on Ghetto Safari, Sub/Version, Loop etc... is pretty intense)...

...and Aphex... I've never bothered trying to fit him into any genre... he calls it braindance - that's fine by me.

Nice,

Respect to you guys for pushing that kindof stuff...

I was listening to Speedy J's "Ni Go Snix" a couple of days ago and was amazed how fresh and current that record sounds today :)

Ahead of its time...

Jochem Papp has done some amazing stuff... the period when Ni Go Snix came out is arguably his best (Patterns/Pannik/Punnik - awesome!)... and I still play the shit out the old Public Energy records he cut on Probe and Accelerate... Three O Three is a classic... and the Silicon Ghetto ep (with cuts by him, Hawtin and Dan Bell) is pretty fantastic.

Panacea is sort of proto-breakcore but now he's a big fat Tiesto-wannabe ego wise and his last few releases sucked ass. µ-ziq (Mike Paradinas) runs the Planet Mu label which features a host of breakcore artists, however he's totally IDM. Venetian Snares is of course the most prolific and some would argue most complex and well-produced breakcore artist out there. I don't think Aphex Twin has ever really been a breakcore dude, even on Druqks.
I'm feeling frugal right now..

the µ-ziq material leans more towards the idm side of things - but Hard Love by Kid Spatula and Silk Ties by Rude Ass Tinker show that Paradinas can (and does) stuff that's well within the realm of what can be called breakcore... not to mention that his was the first large label to give Snares a shot (he'd already released records on HotF and Isolate when Making Orange Things came out)...

At any rate... he's probably been one of the most important figures in the breakcore scene over that past ten years or so... he's put out some relatively outstanding tracks by Doormouse, Snares, Shitmat... as well as less known artists like Duran Duran Duran and FFF...

Didn't want to be misunderstood, µ-ziq is IDM is what I was saying. Not Paradinas in general.
I'm feeling jaded right now..
