Sure there is lots of land, but there is NO undiscovered land. Everything these is, we, as a species, know about it. Therefore, there's nowhere anyone can really hide or be unaffected by the actions of others. The forests are shrinking and the human species is expanding exponentially.
I have a theory that obesity in the states is actually partially due to a slight deprevation of oxygen, which we all know is the most basic element of life, and required for burning our energy reserves, IE fat and carbs. etc. etc.

well my theory about obesity in the state...(and more and more in Canada since 2000)
is due to the peepz who are more and more intelligent
and try to find more and more way of…. Not working ;-)
they want less and less be active in the 3D word...
a lot of them think that just thinking without any action is cooler.

even walking seem too hard for some peepz
even cooking there own food.

But the standards of the food is pretty low in the states
in general, and specially in restaurants
so the just buying the cheapest food
(...so they won't choose the low fat
one because it's cost more for a smaller
quantity...)

so the equation is simple:
peepz heat more of junk+no exercise =??? (I'll let u guess)

20 years ago there were 2billion, now we're 6billion and growing, if that doesn't put a strain on our oxygen supplies, I don't know what would.

In Japan, they have public telephone style 'fresh air' dispensers...

i think i is possible... but living in community is really not easy. people start bitching at each other and whatnot, there are always points of view that are clashing and causing problems. but then in the end it does make us be stronger individuals and collectives from resolving so many things.
there are lots of communities already existing that proves this, last one i heard of and really inspiring too is somewhere in australia it's like a whole village that is kinda eco-psychedelic, old and young people, psy art on the buildings and all that built in an eco-friendly way, and gardens, and living off the earth and all that stuff. i heard it from someone who's been there, and there was this 'war' between the pot smokers/growers and the people wanting to live a drug-free life. (a lot of the economy of a place like this is obviously built on ganja.....)
anyways i gotta go...
but um yeah i may check this topic again...

well st-fortunat is the place i know that has the most of that vibe in quebec, there are a lot of cultural stuff going on in a very natural settings, the land that earthdance was on has seen many parties. i've lived there last year for a couple weeks, and the people in the village are really awesome.
the problem in quebec though is always the winter. there are some people (that you probably met at earthdance too) that make parties there all year long, they make a winter gathering that lasts one or two weeks, they build shelters and live in the nature. but still... winter asks for so much planning for stuff like canning or dehydrating food, and cutting loads of wood for heating... waking up in the morning in the freezing cold you need to start the fire hehe so fucking cooooold!
so that's probably why we don't have many of these communities in quebec. but the natives used to do it, and i hear there are still native people who live close to the earth when you go towards abitibi-temiscamingue.
and there are communities like the one you're talking about in mexico. i know of one... i would just need to remember where i heard of it but they make a big gathering every year, kindof like a spiritual get-together where people come and share their knowledge.
Update » AYkiN0XiA wrote on Mon Sep 24, 2007 @ 8:25pm
shit i can't find it. i thought this [ www.greengrooves.org ] was an eco-community but apparently they only make parties... anyways i guess the best way to find out is to go there... maybe peet (anima) knows of some communities because i know he's traveled there last year...
Update » AYkiN0XiA wrote on Mon Sep 24, 2007 @ 8:28pm
oh yeah and i remember of another community in quebec where they hold all the knowledge of ecological shelter-building in gaspesie, in the baie-des-chaleurs. it's called la grange de st-louis but it's a lot more than a grange from what i have heard... but i have not been there and i don't think it's the 'rave' vibe or anything... but it's inspiring nonetheless...
