I think Deadfunk is right in a certain way.. Electro is more of a sound rather than a style. Kinda like Trance in a way, where anything with a melody can be classified under trance music.

It just gets confusing when you have a vocal track with melodies and electro sounds.. lol. !!

As for recommendations, well, check out "Push Rec+play" for some dirty electro !! :p

as trance, as house, as techno, as breakbeat, as hardcore...

you can say about anyn track whats its special genre,
vocal trance, morning trance
detroit house, booty house
hard techno(even this genre varies from people to people, ntk calls their 'frenchcore' hardtechno, when in fact hard techno is more like toltech plays)

ect, but thats ban in a certain way, as i duscussed with tipsy a while ago, its makes purist more purist,

lets say, i dont like jungle, only drum and bass...

when both genre are still pretty similar, it separates a scene in 2 genres

thats why i allways say i produce/mix hardcore, even if it goes from happy hardcore to uk hardcore to trancecore to freeform to new style gabber... its all hardcore

I call it all "dance music" cause that's what people produce it for, and that's what people do when they hear it.

i disagree... i think the the simplicity is what makes electro cool... and as far as better equipment... wtf are you talking about? isn't the whole cool aspect about electro and synth pop that it wasn't created on some fuckin' loosers laptop??
and most of these acts were breaking out the vintage analog synths, arpeggiators and drum machines?

as far as cool tunes...

i really dig the rework of "metal" that bambatta did with gary numan.

diggin that new uffie single too...

forget the name though?

Hmmm I never said anything about simplicity? I think electro can either be simple or very complicated... no need to pigeonhole it.

And as far as the equipment issue goes... Yeah your right, a lot of electro artists probably do use some vintage gear... but the sequencing and mastering tools are different. Nobody is recording shit onto 12 track DATs anymore.

And actually now that I think of it... I don't really think many electro artists use a lot of vintage equipment... Like... all sad mafioso brought with him was a laptop
I'm feeling nice :) right now..
