Good timing for me since IO was going to go there tomorrow for my bday ahhh I only went there a few times, was a alright place Landmark Cheers bar falls silent The Gazette Published: Thursday, April 26, 2007 Creditors were hauling away beer kegs and liquor bottles from Bill Edwards's Cheers yesterday afternoon after the downtown bar declared bankruptcy. Owner Derek Johnson blamed the province-wide ban on smoking in bars and restaurants, instituted May 31. "We've seen a 20-per-cent drop in business since the ban," Johnson told The Gazette last night. The business never recovered from revenue lost during the 2004-05 NHL lockout, Johnson said. He also blamed increased rates and hours for parking meters. "People don't want to come downtown too early anymore because of it," he said. The bar was started by Bill Edwards in 1984. Johnson bought the Mackay St. location in 1995. Not all bars seem to suffer that bad. Maybe that one simply failed to keep its clientele interested in coming back ? |

| Coolness: 202220 | I went to Cheers on the 20th.. hardly anyone was there but it was nice and 4/20 that night, but around midnight it was packed, and the other two times I went this year, packed . I was surprised they closed down. The Cheers in the southshore.. no one goes there, i thought that one was gonna close down first before anything.
Anyways yeah ill probably go to Foufs for my bday instead cause i couldnt think of anything else at last minute |
