I will awnser Jesse's question, not as a snappy comeback but as a reminder, or a detailed explination of why I am charging such prices for this party for all of you who might be sceptical... now since writen words on the internet suck at relating exactly what a person implies by these words, imagine my tone of voice being calm but extremely enthusiastic
so what you get for that 30$ (or 25$ if you get a ticket at one of the pre-sale locations) A live performance from a british producer (Serious Porn Collector) that creates music so different from anything else that no genre can define it... and thats coming from a genre freak... I do love to argue about music classification ;) A second live performance (NRS) drastically different in that it is much more energetic but in no way less original than the other live. This time we do get something closer to psy... but is it full-on, is it dark, is psytek... you'll get to judge that for yourself saturday but what I can say is that Paul makes some of the best sounding (production-wise) and most creative sound that I know of! A dj from new york (Lauryn) who is as versitile as she is talented... I myself am curious of hearing what styles and moods she will go into at this party but I do know that quality tracks will be played and the dancefloor will be rocked Then you have Causai from Vancouver, an ex-montrealer back to tag with up and coming (is he really still up and coming?) neuromyth an experience that I beleive will be as special for both djs than it will be for the crowd! Then you got your veterans, br34th3 and clown... djs that, I know I've heard extremmely offen but that never dull out or become old... new and exclusive sounds are always to be awaited from both these guys... also consider that clown will be playing techy and I personaly havnt heard him mix techy since my last event You also get a taste of new blood from myself and psydraulix... now I am not going to hype myself as I guess I am not pretentious enough to do so. For psydraulix (aka alien zed) though, you have to that although this is not his thousandth booking, he does have experience maniuplating sounds as he has produced some excellant tracks (and played them live) under his solo project as well as his collaborations... you get two vj's who are, to me, the vj's who adapt psy sound to images the best... and it just so occurs that they have great chemistry making for a vj versus that will be worth opening your eyes once in a while even if, like me you like to close em to get into the music Now I'm not going to get into the details of what the surprise is but... trust me, it will be awesome now up until now, this is your typical rave with a bunch of international headliners... something that you dont see more than maybe once every two months but still something that has been done before... thing is, you also get: a second room, now I can honnestly say I dont remember the last real chill room in a party... by real I mean with a selection of djs who will all be playing special sets for the occasion!... I mean when's the last time you saw a tag team in the chill room? full lighting... now that doesnt mean that I have a laser, two scans and a bunch of blacklights... I am talking about a mix of trad and moving lighting that will be operated by a lighting engeneer... I do put emphasis on this since, I can honnestly say that I have never seen a lighting setup that I found satisfactory in a rave... an art expo from lunatixx... once again, alot of this is a surprise but all exposed art will be made especially for this event, if you are not familliar with her stuff, I do suggest you check out her website [ www.lunatixx-art.net ] ... I do want to specify that claudine is not doing deco for this party... this is an expo of her visual computer graphics art (im specifing since there might be confusion looking at the page in the calendar) Original deco... this is all stuff that we have been working on, every week for the past three months, I am writing this at 6 am since i just came back from the venue where installation of deco elements has already started and will be ongoing until saturday A circus act... yes you get a circus act! hehe once again I wont get into the details but.... circus act! now... knowing all the details that you guys dont... I can say that I'd dish out an EASY 50$ for this event... but I'm not basing the price of this party on what I'd be ready to pay but on an estimation of what I'd need to come in even... I'm not looking for profit but I do not have the means to make a loss-party either I am not doing this for money... I am doing it because I want this party to happen... if I get the amount of people I estimate, I will come out of this party recovering all costs and having paid all artists decent salaries... but I prioritize the artists getting money over myself! ...Before I click on the post reply button I just want to say that this post was meant in a friendly manner... I do not mean to diminish any other party and I, in no way am trying to criticize anyone... this is not the place for any kind of dramma and I really ask all of you not to argue in this thread about whatever subject |
