Hey guys, I think I'm at the point now where I want to start trying to sell my songs and possibly release an album. Does anybody have any tips for selling songs to labels?
Like How much can I expect to make? How do I go about getting them to listen to the songs? How do I get in touch with record labels? Any tips / hints you guys can whip at me will be greatly appreciated.
I'm feeling like launching right now.. |

for cash, it depends what genre and what label you go on. As for getting a record deal, the "sending cds to a bunch of labels" never worked out for me. Contacts is where its at, like any other industry. Good luck!

99 cents a song on a music site ;) I was thinking of doing something like that... But I doubt there is a ton of cash to be made unless you have millions of dollars to advertise yourself...

It's a whole lotta networking. It's important that you submit to a label which feeds off the same style as yours for a specific music genre. How can I explain this... much like artists who seek their own sound & style, labels wish to keep theirs as well. More chance there for sure.
Heck... if you're not too crazy for vinyl labels, you could always go about starting a digital label. Where's the big investment in that? |
