Well, motorcycles are dangerous if you're stupid. Don't speed like a twat. Just because you CAN go up to like 300km/h, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

That said, though, my uncle spent about 6 years with a motorcycle, got the proper lessons in a club or wtf you'd call it, first courses to learn how to handle it, and then like once a month they'd all get together and like drive out somewhere on their bikes to have a picnick or something. In the 6 years he was doing this, 3 people died and 1 got paralyzed. They weren't racing, they weren't going fast or doing crazy shit, just driving down the highway and something went wrong.

They look great, they're deff. fun to ride, but you also have to remember that you have fewer points of contact with the road, nothing protecting your body, and are doing the same speeds as a car. Tons of people have bikes and don't get into accidents, but the one in a million chance you have of getting into one, think of how much worse-off you're going to be than if you were in a car.
I'm feeling confused right now..

True, but people forget how dangerous a car crash is when you're doing 100kph.... you're almost as fucked even in a car. Hell, i know someone who was nearly killed (paralysed instead) while driving down a 50kph road and drove into one of those 10cm wide trees in the island in the middle of the road..

well, obviously a car crash is dangerous as fuck no matter what speed, but would you rather hit another car at 50km/h in 1: a sealed cage with airbags and a seatbelt OR 2: with nothing but 1" of helmet that protects only your head..
I'm feeling confused right now..

Honnestly, i'm not sure.... hitting something headon in a car means you go 100kph to 0 in a split second.. if you fly off a motorcycle.. you land and roll.... both are bad, but i'm not convinced either is better..

just look on how much the new SAAQ fees will be, like around 1300$-1600$ to register it every year, + insurances (3000$ a year).

It's not cheap to ride 4-5 months a year!

...you think flying off and rolling @ 100kph is going to be better? You've never seen a motorcycle accident, have you? Welcome to a very large portion of your bones broken, with WAY more chance of getting crippled or at least permanently fucked up.
I'm feeling confused right now..

(from my friend in T.O.)

the Ninja ZX-6R is possibly a death machine for beginners..... it's a supersport race bike.. 110 horsepower.
Try getting something less powerful like SV650S. an amazing beginner and pro bike.

he rode the bike for 4 years "super fun, sounds amazing, has enough horse power ( 80 ) to love the ride" before upgrading to a gsxr-1000 at 180 horsepower...

SV650S

suzuki gsxr-1000 2005

Update » Trey wrote on Thu Sep 7, 2006 @ 12:14am
correction i think the SV650S hp is 70
