| I am in the market for a sound card to connect my Nord Lead 2X to a MacBook. I don't plan on buying much more hardware but it'd be nice to have an availlable input for a guitar or another machine if ever I do a collab. What would you audiophiles suggest? What other details about my production matter? Thanx |

| M-Audio makes great products, I've been very impressed with their quality...affordable too. |

| i never had a problem with my Firewire 410 but i STRONGLY suggest you to go with MOTU Ultralite or Traveler
more expensive but the sound quality is insane |

| M-AUDIO does the job but its all low quality... "PROSUMER" they call it.
if you put it back to back with a motu the first thing you would notice is that you'll get a much better signal from the motu and will probably even have to turn stuff down.
personly i have yet to be able to justify the cost for my own personal use (i use a m-audio delta 66 for recording and it works fine as long as i use a pre-amp) but if you justify the purchase... MOTU IS THE FUCKIN' SHIT YO!! |

| Go E-MU! I just bought an e-mu 0404, it's PCI, but they just released USB versions. I have never been happier with an audio purchase. It has onboard DSP which mean if you do a colab with an analog instument such as a guitar you can process the sound in real time. Check out their products and see if any of their stuff meet your needs. They are also really really nicely priced. Update » ShaiGuy wrote on Tue Aug 22, 2006 @ 11:30pm |

| I'm very happy with my edirol fa-66
I suggest getting a firewire card over a USB one, they generally perform better. |
|
Coolness: 83860
| yeah... pci is better than usb too...

the fireface is around 1200$ |
|
Coolness: 509545
| That's the thing, it seems like the M-Audio's are the only affordable ones... I can't spend another 1000$ when my computer costs 2000$, you know? |

| Well the fa-66 I have came up to 550$ after tax a year ago, and I find it is better than the m-audio's. |
|
Coolness: 102190
| to answer your question georges, the traveler is around 1000$
if you want a MOTU, you should go with the Ultralite and you'd save some money to get some hoes ;) |
|
Coolness: 509545
| so a motu ultralite beats the pants off an m-audio firewire 410? |
