I make fun of fruitloops alot because..well...i dont like it. Dosent mean it sucks. Im a Reason freak cuz ive been using it for years and im all about patching and mangling things. Reason is an insane software capable of so much (minus the oubvious). And specially now with the Combinator you can pretty much create your own plugins and toys to fuck around with. Like mentioned before, rewireing it with Cubase or Live is gold...SWEEETT GGYYOOOOLLLDDD!!

i have a hardware korg sampler and i can get all touchy feely with it
i plan on spending quality time with it
geting to know it's every nook and cranny
pressing its sweet little buttons and turning its knobs
to make sweet music together
i put in it gives out

for sure hardware is cool but it's too expensive
i also like the concept of having a whole studio in a laptop :D

its fun having a dedicated machine.
imho home computers are hypedup typewriters slideshow viwers
i like turning a physical knob instead of pretending to turn one with a mouse
but alack i do admire dedicated digital sound designers

quoting brian eno on the korg website

[ www.korg.com ] intelligence

With this theory on evolution you’d think that Eno would be a huge fan of software, which, as he states, can be continually updated. But while he is a fan of some programs, particularly some plug-ins and virtual instruments, he is not really a fan of computer music-making in general. “I think it’s little bit like what happened with cameras,” he states. “In the 19th century, taking a photograph was technically and physically a very difficult thing to do. Most people couldn’t do it. Not only did you have to organize this complicated structure of plates and so on, you also had to know how to develop it. What’s happened now is that everyone’s got cameras, in fact further than that, they have their auto-focus, auto-everything way of making music too.

“That’s fine… I’m happy that that’s happened. I certainly did more than most people to show that you didn’t need to be a trained musician to make music!” he laughs. “The only problem with it is it’s now possible to make music that sounds reasonably competent reasonably quickly, so it fools you into thinking you’ve got somewhere when you haven’t.”

software is expensive too if you pay for it... Not as much as hardware though but programs like cubase are still like 800$ +
