when I used to work at the SPCA and they put down cats, they'd call it euthanising. They euthanise cats from the euthanasia room.. and the cats didn't give them permission. It may just be incorrect use fo the word.. and because it's a cat and not a person they look at it differently as well.

eu·tha·na·sia Pronunciation Key (yth-nzh, -zh-)
n.
The act or practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal illness or an incurable condition, as by lethal injection or the suspension of extraordinary medical treatment.

Hmm.. so maybe ScottyP thinks being "Plur" is a terminal illness?

Sadly, I don't think many of those cats were actually suffering.. they just didn't have homes. :(

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Greek euthanasi, a good death : eu-, eu- + thanatos, death.]

They would get euthanised if they were : sick, old, fat, skinny, or too young. I hated that room. It's heart-breaking... all these Garfields and... teeeny weeny little minous.

You're lucky then, a friend of mine worked at an SPCA when there was an unforseen influx if kitties. Of course, the sick, old, ugly, too young ones were the first to go, but eventually they had to put down perfectly healthy cats just because of space shortage :(

At least they say its rather painless, just slowing down and stopping... ugh.. I can't imagine ever abandoning an animal. At least... not a cat. (I am a cat person hardcore)

well actually the vast majority of animals euthanised there are perfectly healthy, I'd say about 95%. Naturally though they have to pick them out from the others for any which reason, so you'd end up with cats being euthanised, not because they're old but because they are a little bit older, not because they're fat, but because they are fatter. Also, if they are depressed, shy, or scared, that is a big factor as well. So pretty much every animal who is imperfect is euthanised but a lot of cats with no real differences from the healthy still had to be euthanised as well, just cause they had no others to euthanise. There was a really nice lady who had convinced them to open up a room to treat sick animals. New administration came in who were all about money, money, money, and they were highly opposed to the room, eventually they managed to close us down completely. Anyway, she had to beg for every single cat they let us treat, this lady really has insane dedication and heart. Most of the time though, they would euthanise them before we had time to finish treating them. It all depended on money of course. If the SPCA collected just a little less money one day, they'd go on a mass euthanasia sprea, and this was by no means uncommon. I always said it didn't really bother me, I was handling it really well, but whenever I look back on it, I just feel so disturbed. You can't ask questions abotu what happens to each one, you just have to hope the best and try not to wonder, cause if you ask questions, you're more than likely to end up in tears. Please people, don't ever bring your animals there, chances are they won't find a home. People always think it's the right thing to do, but it is definitely the worst place for a pet to end up.. your better off letting them live in the street. So I'm nto saying don't donate money to the SPCA but I'm saying that sending your cat there is certainly NOT a contribution to a charity, and chances are they will just be euthanised, and definitely increase the need to euthanise other animals. It's really horrible, please stop doing it. There is never ever ever enough space or resources. Especially cause teh guy in charge owns a Mercedes Benz and continuously makes cuts on what money actually gets to the animals.

We rented Gravity for Hard as Fuck 3 and had absolutely no problem with the managers or staff. When shit got stolen at Electric Church the staff was very nice about it and let me in to look for it again after the event, and also helped track down the guy who stole everything. I know many other promoters who have had nothing but good experiences with Gravity.

On the other hand, I know of several events where the promoters went in planning on dealing drugs, where the promoters went in thinking they owned the place because they paid for the night. It always seems to be the ones who try to take an inch who have problems with Gravity, and i say good. They run their place on a very straightforward set of rules : Don't be sketchy and don't get involved with drugs. Hunab, I don't know you so i can't say anything for certain, but your story doesn't sound very likely. There's no point to these guys throwing people out for no reason - from my experience they only get rid of people who a) have drugs on them or b) act like dicks to them. Again, it's the attitude of "We're renting the place for the night, we own it, we do what we want", and that will NOT fly in a place like Gravity.

That's my main point too... they have rules, both written and unwritten.. you play by them or you get fucked... and Neuromyth was talking about heather... not weather... and I like cats.

That's why you don't go to the police to talk about things like this, you go to the public. Messageboards aren't the way to go, no one takes these seriously except for us. Try and contact some newspapers or news stations, get the word out to the GENERAL public (not the RAVING public) and the police will be FORCED to take notice.

look guys i was the witness inside. i am on your side. i told them it wasn't cool, and they said i don't care. we are not going to give them a chance to hide it. Last time once, before they were so vicious. a promoter rented from me and asked me if he could bring in shit i told him bring in at most 30 for your friends but don't let the guards see you!!!! now they never searched the promoters or had the girl at the door. before it was that big cuddly bear who was really cool. the girl is so they can search girls too. now what happened is that he was caught once and was told to stop. then a second time and was told to give them his stuff to reclaim in the morning. the again and again. after that they beat him and found 300 pills, 200 quarters of cocaine and weed. ( by the way that night there were under covers because someone was passing fake 100$. since then they don't give a fuck about anybody and there stupid drugs, ( cough cough not my beleifs). so give it up man. if they have any excuse to take away drugs from you they will. there licence is more important than if you come back or not...

i feel for all you guys that have been hassled, i give my full apologies, but it will happen again.

they don't check sox and you are allowed to leave and come back in. we encourage you to get the fuck out when you are doing your drugs, then come back in. no problem

peace
ur friendly neighborhood insider

The stealing people's bags and giving people's clothes out was wrong. But in this guy's situtation they just took his drugs, they didn't steal the rest of his shit. But true someone should of been there to witness it. Drugs are illegal, if they see just one mdma (even if it is just for you) they are going to take it, and they have a right to.

As for Dave giving me the clothes, ALEX, I didn't know where they came from, and when I found out they were stolen I gave them back.

I went to High School with 3 of the staff there, I know their ok guys, that fucker that claimed he worked there is a fucking phoney and I'm going to brake his legs, and get paid for it. HEATHER.

Like I said, I'm sure it was well within their juristiction... they were just exercising their authourity in a very jerky way.

it was well within their jusridiction in the sense that as people have said they have certain rules somewhat in accordance with the law that has been fasioned, namely, not to sell (other) drugs on their premises, have guns, and other arms etc. By law, they ought to be responsible of their property to make sure no drugs are coming in. There's nothing wrong in them searching for drugs. BUt they are supposed to be handing it over to the police.

But are the police even allowed to remove you from a room, when they are searching your things. IF so, there is a risk that something may be planted and that would be a unreasonable search or seizure. It is in the charter of feedoms of canada to be free from unreasonable search or seizure.

Perhaps, because you willingly left the premises to allow them to search, you may have entitled them to that. But that doesn't change that you have the right to be free from unreasonable search or seizure. It is unreasonable to search people's things, when the people who are being searched are not around. If those people were around, it would not have necessarily compromised their search. Just because you can watch what they are doing, doesn't mean you would be allowed to remove all illegal things from your pockets first.

Plus, they ought to be handing these things over to the police, legally speaking.

If anything the greater crime probably is that you were unaware of your right and might have let them walk all over you, in their favor.
